news about our competition
I thought it might be a good idea/interesting if we had a thread where we can post articles and information about the teams we will be playing. That way we can keep tabs on our competition so we know who and what we're going to be up against, who is injured, etc.
Jeremy Francis will not be returning to the Beavers

Chris Forcier is transferring from UCLA after declining a change to WR

Re: news about our competition
"He's been given his release and he's exploring other options," UCLA coach Rick Neuheisel said. "We obviously wish Chris well and want him to be successful."
He was recently timed at 4.43 seconds in the 40-yard dash, the fastest on the team. It prompted Neuheisel to approach Forcier about changing to the receiver position.
"He wasn't interested," Neuheisel said. "I just told him that his best position may be another one. He was convinced and committed to staying at quarterback."
What is it about the Forcier boys... They obviously fit a spread style, but want to try their mettle in a pro-set O, with the obvious exception of Tate, who will be attending MeatChicken to play for Ript RobCheetah.
I am glad Oregon got Masoli, Thomas, and whoever else wants to be here in the future.
So much less drama.

He should have come to Oregon when he had the chance. Tate is the only Forcier that made a sound decision when he committed.

Well, it looks like Forcier decided to give WR a shot at UCLA afterall.

I wasn't sure when I started this thread if anyone else cared to know this type of stuff. Thanks for affirming that at least one other person does.uodux1212 wrote:Thanks for these little nuggets of info guys... I dont have time to find this stuff on my own... thanks again for the leg work!

Wow, Purdue is really thin at QB now that Painter is gone. Looks like their front runner is a senior named Joey Elliott whose career stats are pretty low at 300 yards, 2 TDs and 2 INTs (http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/player/pr ... rId=173694).

Purdue will likely be the Ducks easiest out-of-conference game next season.

Re: news about our competition
Since I live in Utah I thought I would post some spring practice info on the Utes. They are losing a lot of playmakers as well as position coaches, including both the OC and DC and will not be as good as last year (finishing undefeated and #2 in the country) but they will still be a good team and have always played well against the Ducks.
http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/n ... eam_report
"When the Utes stepped on the field for spring practice early this month, it’s easy to see why they could let go of the last season’s undefeated team and Sugar Bowl champion that finished No. 2 to Florida. No Brian Johnson returning at quarterback. No Paul Kruger at defensive end. No Sean Smith at cornerback. No Louie Sakoda at kicker or punter."
"Corbin Louks, who has experience as a change-of-pace quarterback in Utah’s scheme, will battle fellow junior-to-be Terrence Cain. Cain is a junior-college all-America transfer from Blinn (Texas) College, throwing for 3,138 yards and 29 touchdowns last season."
Louks is very fast and mobile (they used him a lot to run the ball) and the JUCO guy was a sought after 4* dual threat QB

Thought this comment about the QB situation pretty well summed it up about beevur nashun:echo31 wrote:I thought it might be a good idea/interesting if we had a thread where we can post articles and information about the teams we will be playing. Good luck Mr. Francis! Thanks for your contributions.
What's up with the crack medical staff that took months (either counting from date of injury or from date of Sun Bowl) to determine that Moevao needed surgery? Anyone who watched any game after he was hurt could tell something was wrong and that he was hurting. No way do I see him being a factor this year. Canfield had surgery two month earlier and took until half way through the season to be effective. Hope Katz, Engstrom or Lalich are ready for back up duty!
