From what has been said about Thomas this spring, Harper still wouldn't have been the starter. It was going to happen and it did. He was such a great athlete but he would never make it at Oregon doing what he wanted to do. I hope he goes to Kansas State and we never play him. I guarantee one of these players will consider leaving Oregon a major life mistake one day and it will probably be Pflu or Roper. Harper still has 4 years to play 3 and will be a force somewhere else.

What makes me angry about this is that I would give up something in my life that I cherish greatly for the chance to play for the Ducks. These players don't see it this way and chose to give Oregon a chance, not a full commitment. Pflu is the only player that should be given a release because of what happened to his dad. The others should do this thing called "being a man" and finish what they started. (this is just a statement and not a burst of emotions)

You never know. Maybe Harper could have developed quickly at QB if given the chance. He has the measureables and athletic ability.

Anyway, I'm just speculating. Maybe he didn't really mind the switch to WR and it was more about being homesick. I don't know.

This is the fallout of our "entitlement" society. I don't want to say it's a trend but look at recruits like Bryce Brown: "I went to Tennesse because they're going to prepare me best for the NFL." We don't hear things like, "I can't wait to earn my spot on the team" or "I am excited about what it means to be a Vol." The one guy that has impressed me the most is Darron Thomas. I really like his attitude. He was practically begging for competition. More and more it's about self instead of something bigger than you. Ethan Grant is another one that I am excited about. I know that he's getting some looks at some big time program but if what is said about him is true, he won't be looking anywhere else. Harper was one of those kids that was committed, decommitted and then you were worried about him getting swooned by Rodriguez.

I think that the players that constantly commit, decommit, and then recommit to someone else are the ones that tend to be ones who transfer since tend to be looking for the next thing that catches their fancy.

Right on Wheaton, who knows what would have happened.

Time to get some players in here that can complete the journey!

Well there goes my sweet sig pic....

Great point Bison. This welfare generation that has had everything given to them & never had to work for anything is starting to come of age.

I get the feeling Harper never really wanted to go to Oregon in the first place, or is that just me? I think the qb thing is only part of it.

Agreed. I think from day one he probly had some regrets, and the transfer rumors probly had at least some legitimacy to them.

Does anyone else think that maybe this has something to do with us missing BB? I feel like if Harper had been sold on Oregon and been pushing BB to Oregon, things might've gone differently. Who knows though.

I think that the QB part is big part of it, plus his homesickness and his standing on the WR depth chart. We can also see why Bryce Brown didn't come here since I bet he knew that Harper was more than likely going to be transferring out.

Good point on Brown guys. It's really too bad for Oregon, but if they didn't want to be at Oregon it's their loss.

By the way, I see Harper is looking at Kansas, Kansas State and Oklahoma State. The same Oklahoma State team we beat in the holiday bowl.

He'll end up in the state of Kansas. KSU is the most likely choice for him.

Wowow, why? Chris Harper was one of my favorite players to watch.

I guess this shouldn't be that big of a surprise since we've been hearing the last 6 months rumors that he's homesick. I never thought he'd actually leave though.

Who do we have left? Holland, Davis, and Maehl are likely candidates to be our starters. Tuinei, Embry, Cantu, and Cavaille are our backups.

Jackson and Gaines need to get here asap..

weak, Harper. real weak

He's really an idiot if he thinks that he has any shot at becoming a QB. This could be a decision that really hurts his career.

good riddance

He seemed unstable, way too up and down on and off the field. I guess he belongs in the unstable state of Kansas(where the Brown's/Mr. Butler and Harper reside).
