To me, USC seems to have the best backups, but I guess that's just me.

I think the reason you see the beavs as number 1 on that list is because neither really stands out as the starter. Both have started and won games but both have also been hurt and the 2nd string guy. So I think they are number 1 is because of the experience both have as a starter more so then thier ability comapered to others.

Re: Pac-10 backup QB rankings
Well they've been good enough the last couple of years to be in the upper tier of the Pac 10. Last year Moevao led the league in passing yards most of the season. And historically, Senior Pac 10 qb's who have had success as juniors and sophomores do very well. The only one recently who hasn't, off the top of my head, is that WSU qb from two years ago Alex something. And even he put up a lot of yards, just didn't have anyone to help him out.gregspechtismyhero wrote:What's up with everyone all of the sudden loving Moevao and Canfield??? I think they are solid for keeping the Beavs in the upper half of the Pac 10, but not necessarily All Pac-10. I would take JM in a heartbeat, but I wouldn't kick them off the team.

How about Rudy Carpenter? He stunk it up last year behind a terrible O-Line.

Re: Pac-10 backup QB rankings
I can see USC not being all that high on the list considering outside of Mustaine not a singe QB has starting experience, and Mustain didnt blow anyone away at Arkansas. I think rating who has the best backup QB situation is hard to judge anyway. If Darron Thomas was thrust into the starter spot, no one would know how the Ducks would fair. Same can be said for USC if Mustain or Berkley were put into that position. You never know what you're going to get until a player practices to be a starter, then gets to play in a real game envirement as a starter.

I'm sorry but I'd take my chances with Darron Thomas, Costa, Mustaine, or Barkley rather than the known quantities (garbage) that are Can'tfield & Moevao.

I agree even though Thomas, Costa and Barkley don't have any real game experience, they are all better athletes than Canfield and Moevao. Although the Beavers QB's can put up big passing numbers, they also throw a lot of INT's and can't get it done in big games.dthomas=ddixon wrote:I'm sorry but I'd take my chances with Darron Thomas, Costa, Mustaine, or Barkley rather than the known quantities (garbage) that are Can'tfield & Moevao.

Yeah I'm more just talking about potential wise. I'd rather risk it with the young unexperienced guys then take the guy that I know is not gonna be terrible but is never gonna be great either. At least DT, Barkley & Mustaine have a chance to be really good. Moevao & Canfield?....not so much.gofightingducks wrote:I agree even though Thomas, Costa and Barkley don't have any real game experience, they are all better athletes than Canfield and Moevao.
