Our very own Masoli at #9. :D

Yikes! There's a Beaver on the list at 23.

Your thoughts?

Nice to see Masoli up there.. But 9th? Am I the only one that thinks that assumption is very premmature? Masoli has done a pretty good job so far, but labeling him as one of the top 10 players in the country is definitely a surprise.

I guess that Holiday bowl game appearance helped.

I think Masoli is rated a little high, but I am wondering why Blount is not on the list. We all know he is better than quizno's!

My thoughts exactly. Not to take anything away from what Quiz accomplished last year but even a Beav homer would be hard pressed to take him over Blount.

I'm assuming that this writer put Masoli at #9 because:

1. He remebers what Coach Kelly did with Dennis Dixon in one year and thinks about what CK could do with Jeremiah in 2 years.

and most importantly

2. He saw how much Masoli improved over the course of last season and he believes that Jeremiah is only going to get better with another year of experience and another year of Chip Kelly's coaching.

I think it is safe to assume that Masoli is only going to get better as he gets more experience, but in order for him to really take it to the next level IMO, he is going to need everyone around him to step up, especially the OL. If the OL takes to long to gel or god forbid doesn't gel at all due to injuries or whatever, Masoli is not going to have a very good year and at the very least not play to the level he is capable of.

No, I've read enough blog comments to know that Beav homers claim Quizz is better than Blount

Hard to imagine Masoli making the list and Blount not making the list. I guess we will see when the season starts!

When I saw this post I thought it was going to be Blount. I can't believe that he is above Jevan Snead and Terrelle Pryor. All the other sports writers can't quit talking about those guys. I hope this writers expectations become reality.

Based on what I saw in the spring game (better accuracy, touch and reads) and how well he progressed last season, I think these guys have done their homework and are right.

I think the passing game is going to be the story this year for Oregon.

I sure hope so (and agree) because teams we play early like BSU won't be able to stack the box this year. A better passing game in the spread means big yardage runs too as the holes get bigger and deeper as the defense spreads in cover (I know, a real indepth and brilliant analogy there - duh). This was evidenced in the CW game, some of the holes JJ ran threw were massive. Once guys like Blount/Masoli get heads of steam going - its Truck Time. If our defense steps it up as they did the end of last year, this is going to a wild ride in both play and nabbing recruits following.

Masoli's maturation was incredible last year and he is a very heady athletically talented kid. CK is developing ways to get him passing lanes, Masoli is developing better touch, and our wide receivers are learning to catch the ball, which all adds up to one thing: way better passing production. We should also get the same rushing production with fewer carriers (if you could imagine that). We'll give up some yards as the line progresses this year. 2010, however, should be a thing of beauty.

Just crossing my fingers that he can stay healthy. Don't want to see depth become an achilles heel again.

I love that Masoli is getting good Pub, but that list was shaky at best

Dez Bryant ahead of Colt McCoy?
Taylor Mays a top 5 player? No way, Eric Berry is the premier DB in the country.
Best needed to be higher
Selvie is not a top 10 player, even with his sacks, top 15. Too inconsistent
No Blount for even Honorable Mention?
Kendall Hunter is 13 spots better than Quizz, really?
