SOME THOUGHTS ON BSU

Post by cmmadness »

Just for kicks and giggles, (and because I have no life) I went to Rivals and scrolled down the last five years of Boise State Recruits. Of all those players, Oregon recruited few and offered fewer. The Ducks made offers to four players:

1) Jeremy Childs: (gone??????)
2) Orlando Scandrick (gone--definitely)
3) Billy Winn (who cares)
4) Tjong-A-Tjoe (probably will graduate from high school this weekend)

I understand that subtle things can determine if a player gets offered or not. I also understand that a hard working lower rung recruit may surpass a higher skilled but less motivated player. But facts are facts. Blue turf----heat or not, questionable returning offensive line or not, visiting team hasn't won there in years or not. I don't think it's going to matter.

The Ducks are just as motivated, if not more so. Kelly is nearly unbeatable with more than one week to prepare, and I'll take a revenge Minded Masoli over Kellen Moore any day of the week. Not to mention this is the first game of the year which means both teams will make mistakes and both teams will turn the ball over. I believe those mistakes will counter-balance each other, giving the advantage to the more talented team.

I think this game will play out in much the same way the Houston game played out in 2007. The teams will take the first half to feel each other out, but in the second half, expect the Ducks to pull away.

This year the Ducks roll in there with three qb's experienced in CK's system. That's a far cry from what we fielded for last years game. Even if we have a bad defense they will be on the field less than last years team.
BSU is not undefeated at home. They lost two games in the last five years. We would be the highest ranking team to come into BSU. This they have not seen before. You can throw out the streak since they have only played (I think) 4 or 5 BCS teams at home during that stretch, of which I believe came both losses. So 3-2 vs. BCS teams (WSU and OSU I believe  ).

I will be putting money on the Ducks for anything better than Ducks -10. Phil Steele has BSU -10. That, I would probably bet the house on. Unfortunately it is college football so nothing is a given, so not my house. But I would bet someone else's house for sure.

as of now they have only released up to #18 in his top 40. he's got arizona at 40, osu at 36, ucla at 24. he may think we are 'rebuilding' but for someone who regards himself as the cfb guru, surely he doesn't think we are going to have a fall off big enough to not even be in his top 40.

Well. If it ends up being like that, he can take full credit. Because nobody else sees it the same.

Now, I love freedom of speech as much as the next guy...but when people abuse that freedom and say stuff that could get them admitted into a mental hospital, I think they should have their mouths taped shut forever. Or in this case, destroy this guy's computer.

Or we could just point and laugh at him. I mean we could have trouble because of our O-line but 7th in the conference??? Really??? I see us going no worse than 4th. 5th if we have a 2006-esque season.

I followed the link you provided and it led me to another one, Steel's web page, he doesn't have anything past 18 showing, but the list you have down is correct up to number 18, hopefully somebody else just lied about the others, or this guy seriously needs to question his job choice!

Who cares what this idiot says anyway..The game is played on the field....We just need to take care of business and say....Duck Steele.....or some reasonable facsimile....Seems that these days, the so called journalists/writers are so jaded by their ignorance, that their opinions and written words arent worth the paper they are written on...Hell, some of em are even named sports journalist (or whatever) of the year....I spose its just the sign of the times...

UCLA at #24 ahead of 3 other top Pac-10 teams shows Steel has lost his mind.
