Edward Cheserek wins NCAA
cross country individual title. Even Steve Prefontaine didn't take the title as a freshman.

Anybody got the #'s from Pre's FR year to compare with what Cheserek did? What about Galen Rupp?

According to a very knowledgeable post on another board Pre finished 3rd his freshman year. I think he won the other three.
