Closer game then the score shows, but nice to see us getting the bats going late in the game. Baumgartner with 3 hits and 2 rbis, sweet.

The pitching has been doing a great job to keep the games close and getting timely hits.

even before the 8-run 8th inning, i thought we looked good. as i said on the first page, colin welmon is an exceptional pitcher and legitimate pac-12 arm. after they tied it @ 2-2 in the 5th, we came right back in the 6th with the go-ahead run off tolman's double.

garlick's bases-loaded double in the 8th was about two feet from being a grand slam. just needed a little more height.

thorpe wasn't as sharp as normal, but he repeatedly got himself out of jams and limited any damage done. cleavinger wasn't sharp, either, in the 8th, loading the bases with one out, but closed the door before anyone crossed home plate.

thorpe going 7 and our huge 8th inning allowed horton to use nogosek in the 9th, meaning everyone should be available today. that's a big thing, considering krook is still kind of an unknown. clayton, hunter, and reed could all go multiple innings, and cleavinger would be available for his usual 8th inning work if need be. love getting that friday win, and keeping our 'pen intact while doing it. that was probably one of our biggest keys to success -- yet no one really talked about it -- in 2012, when alex keudell had such ridiculous success on fridays often going 8 or more innings, and allowing us to throw the house at our opponent on saturday/sunday to get the series win/go for the sweep.

3-2 lmu, top 7

garlick just smoked a HR over the left field wall, getting oregon on the board. he's a triple away from the cycle.

speaking of triples, aj balta just hit one. balta on 3rd, 1 out.
