Re: Purdue vs Oregon Game Week Thread
How bout next week we look for a certain someone numbered 83..ED WAS OPEN ALL GAME LONG DOWN THE MIDDLE!!!
Throwing to Maehl every play was so frustrating. He is not a gamebreaker and had hands of stone that night.
Lets try some screen passes..some real options...and just pray Masoli makes the right reads on the zone option..and hey...why not mix up the blitz for a change?
I swear Oregon has the worst disguise of a potential blitz of any team. We give it away so easily and never come close. Try blitzing a LB and dropping a DL...mix it up and actually PRESS the wr's. Tired of seeing our AA CB WT3 7 yards off the LOS from the receivers..he's a big boy..he's good enough to play bump and run..that's what safety help is for...man I don't know s*** about football and could coach a better D than Allow-a-lotti.

I am interested in seeing how Autzen responds. I dont think it will be as electric as a regualr season opener considering the what has transpired. Hopefully the team responds and plays better it could get ugly if it starts going downhill early or the team looks bad again.
BUT we need Autzen to be a 12th guy and get this team going Saturday night.
I really think this is Boise catasprophe will wake this team up and catapult us to another level of performance.

Duck board indicated 2 RB's Thompson and Reed were added to the roster, any info on them that might settle some of the depth issues we are facing at RB?

Here's an article about Purdue's RB Ralph Bolden who ran for 234 yards on 21 carries. Yes it was against Toledo, but it is still impressive.

They'd already be on the team if any of the coaches felt they could contribute more than just on the scout team.Greydrake wrote:Duck board indicated 2 RB's Thompson and Reed were added to the roster, any info on them that might settle some of the depth issues we are facing at RB?

Understand that, the question was what what the scoop on these two, and whether there any hope of contribution from them (being we are a bit thin at the moment in that position)Legions wrote:They'd already be on the team if any of the coaches felt they could contribute more than just on the scout team.Greydrake wrote:Duck board indicated 2 RB's Thompson and Reed were added to the roster, any info on them that might settle some of the depth issues we are facing at RB?

Purdue's offense looked good against Toledo, but their defense didn't.echo31 wrote:Here's an article about Purdue's RB Ralph Bolden who ran for 234 yards on 21 carries. Yes it was against Toledo, but it is still impressive.

For us to win, Masoli HAS to step it up. Blame the coach, the OL, or whatever, but he needs to make things happen.
Also I feel like we can rattle Purdue's QB. 3 ints against Toledo is ugly.

Agreed TK...Masoli needs to be the QB we know he's capable of being! If last week continues we are as bad as WSU!UOducksTK1 wrote:Purdue's offense looked good against Toledo, but their defense didn't.echo31 wrote:Here's an article about Purdue's RB Ralph Bolden who ran for 234 yards on 21 carries. If Masoli doesn't step up, it makes no sense to keep starting him. Give Costa an opportunity to see if he can do better. If Costa can't do anything give Hawkins a chance, I wouldn't want to waste a redshirt on Thomas. It might simply be that the O-line is terrible and will need the whole season to gel and we will have to wait until next season for a good year.

I feel like a broken record having to constantly defend Jeff Maehl. Dude gets thrown under the bus more than anyone on this team, with the exception of maybe Masoli. "Hands of Stone" is simply innacurate, he didn't drop a single ball, Masoli missed on all of them.

I agree Masoli needs to spread it out, but Maehl "hands of stone"?!? Really? Were we watching the same game? Masoli didnt get it near his hands all night...DmoneyDuck wrote:Throwing to Maehl every play was so frustrating. He is not a gamebreaker and had hands of stone that night.

One thing in our favor for this game is that it starts around 7pm, which is 10pm back in Indiana.

Ed Dickson anyone? Clearly the best player on our team, and we fail to utilize him...uodux1212 wrote:I agree Masoli needs to spread it out, but Maehl "hands of stone"?!? Really? Masoli needs to get him the ball more.
