Life was good. Right?
Wrong. Hout got dropped.

Re: Boise State Losing Battle by Pulling Disciplinary Punches
This was one the few articles that I actually agree with him. BSU has seriously lost the PR battle, as the national media is starting to turn on them for not doing anything to Hout for his role in the fight. I would call it even if they suspended him for just 1 game, but with just internal discipline, it just seems like they are sweeping it under the rug and condoning the actions of Hout.

It doesnt "just seem" like they are sweeping it under the rug, they ARE sweeping it under the rug and condoning the action of Hout...greenyellow wrote: but with just internal discipline, it just seems like they are sweeping it under the rug and condoning the actions of Hout.

Not even a public apology from Huot for his part in the situation, that perhaps burns me the worse. No public accountability of his classless action makes internal discipline unacceptable.

This, my friends, is exactly why I sent an e-mail to the Pres. of BSU with a copy to the NCAA on Saturday....Alot of good it will do, but, I feel strongly about it and had to express my opinion...

Good. Many people have already said this, but this will really hurt Boise State in the future where no big name program will want to play them. Good luck moving out of the WAC!

A lot of people have said that they will use this incident to teach their children why fighting is not ok.
I think we can also use this incident to teach our young ones why it's also not ok to be taunting someone or running at the mouth... you just never know when a right hook is gonna catch you in the jaw to shut that mouth. Nobody wants to get knocked out on national TV, right?

I think I could come up with a very long list of lessons over this one.
But, the one that comes to mind at this moment is that when you're on tv, throwing an accurate punch is judged more harshly than being the person who starts a fight.

Re: Boise State Losing Battle by Pulling Disciplinary Punches
Years ago, my kid was striker on a very good HS soccer team.
They were involved in a match against a higher ranked team. The kid had scored 3 times in 10 minutes... The next time he got the ball, the "Sweeper" for the opposing team deliberately took out his knee.
My kid punched him as he went down. The opposing team's bench charged the field kicking and punching my son.
Guess who got ejected?
The kid whose knee would never play another game of soccer.
Not one other player was penalized. (Did I mention the ref was an alum of the opponent?)
Sportsmanship is great, isn't it?

Brutal. I think I would be getting suspended for the season if I was at a game where that happened to my son.
How about this one:
Our country's sense of justice is founded on the idea that two sides of a dispute are afforded equal representation. Except in college football, where a group of guys already making big dollars doing their dream jobs are lawyer, judge and jury on decisions that directly impact a 22 year olds ability to make big dollars doing his dream job.
