Post by greenyellow »

Oregon has released the baseball schedule for the upcoming baseball season and it includes some really good non-conference matchups.

Yeah SDSU, Miss State, and Santa Barbara are really good matchups. And we got swept by Mich State at home last year, so can't sleep on them either. Seems more loaded than usual. Also weird no more Hawaii opening the season.

hawaii was doing us no favors RPI-wise.

the pac-12 schedule is a little more balanced this year. part of the problem last year was that aside from ucla, we played every single one of the conference contenders right off the bat. things kind of snowballed from there. the schedule finally let up mid-season, and we were able to catch our breath and string some W's together. we have some tough stretches this year simply because the pac-12 is so strong, but it doesn't look as feast or famine as it set up in 2015.

if irvin/krook/peterson can stay healthy all year, we should have a shot in every series. our pitching has been SNAKE BIT the last two seasons, so hopefully we're due for a healthy stretch. i think tolman and heineman were our two best bats last years so losing them hurts, but we do return a lot of experience. a lot of guys were in their first years in the program (craig-st. louis, cuddy, eureste, sunsara, goldfarb), we'll have a few guys looking to make good draft impressions (karaviotis, balta), and hopefully we'll have some new kids ready to step in.
