And I think that’s exactly my point lol. Congratulations y’all have won a fantasy sim league with no monetary value. Y’all clearly care about this a lot more than others, and that’s totally fine. But absolutely no need for you to take shots at me for not Winning in this hahahaUOducksTK1 wrote:I'm not dismissing it's the best you could get. Still poor value for you, and excellent value for Lakers.
And asking for MJ is still laughable. If you didn't notice, dd10snoop28, lukeyrid13, and I comment on a lot of trades. You shouldn't get too excited that we're posting in your trade thread.
And don't get frustrated when people tell you that you did a bad trade. Try to learn from it. Pretty sure us 3 GMs have 10 rings in the two DASL leagues. And you haven't even made a finals in either... I'm actually not trying to be a jerk, but your teams aren't good.

You took the first shot. Don't expect us not to defend ourselves when you tell us we're 'mad'.nray30 wrote:Hahaha! Both of y’all just mad you didn’t get him... Worry about your own teams
We enjoy posting on this forum, and ironically I actually do make monetary value of this league.
Anyway, that's enough defending myself. Have fun spending time doing things poorly and then getting mad at people when they point it out. I like to do things well when I spend time on them. But I guess everyone is different.

Who knew this thread would be so spicy
I mean, Clippers could've gotten worse/less picks and assets. Or worse, wait a year and end up with an expiring Smith and nobody willing to offer anything for him.
Besides, nobody likes a backseat GM (even if what y'all are saying aren't totally wrong).
Anyway, Bill Garnett is gonna up NUMBERS with starters playing time. Just wait.

People are going to offer their opinion of trades made, it's just part of games like this and part of any real life choices you make. The two constructive options if you disagree with the other opinions are to ignore it or heed the advice for the future. Getting all defensive and mad about it isn't really doing any good.

Some spice is good for the league sometimes lol. Maybe Nray will win 5 rings now cuz of all of this. I appreciate that nray has been active and around for a while. When we first started the league, we had like 7 clippers GM in this few months. It was brutal.the goat wrote:Who knew this thread would be so spicy![]()

Re: Lakers / Clippers
I think it's hard for people to trade their stars at this point. Of the teams that are not rebuilding and would have any interest, there's probably less than a handful of teams that would be able to even match contracts with expirings or players that they would be willing to part with, and it's also those teams whose draft picks become less useful as you'd be shipping them one of your stars.
Even though Miami looks set to be a strong team in 88, getting a pick from a team that you aren't directly sending your star to is hard to find right now. It's just the struggle with teams trying to make space in their cap management. Only way to make a bet on a future pick being valuable is to find an aging team, for which then that team would be less willing to gift their future firsts.
FWIW, I also wanted Smith but the price seemed to be a bit too high, so I was also a little surprised that this was able to get the deal done. However, it's hard to realistically find a deal that some other team would do that would be a better package. Same thing with my trade with the Hawks I think. There's an element of this player is an All-NBA player and therefore is being sold at a definitive discount, but no teams either being willing or able to make any better package, and then frustration when being told that they didn't get enough.

Smith is a stud. If Lakers aren't willing to include their top asset(s) for a stud in his prime, then the value is not sufficient.nray30 wrote:100% am all about feedback. The feedback is justified. You just got extremely defensive instead of looking objectively at the criticisms (which admittedly takes time to realize when u make a mistake).

Look, this is as much an indictment on the quality of player that the Lakers were offering to you NRay
He clearly didn't want to give up "fair" value for Smith. But really, everyone wants to win the deal. Would he have included Thorpe had you walked away?
Everyone's comments are fair. No one made any personal attacks. The deal is significantly leaning in one direction. That's the facts.

Re: Lakers / Clippers
I view this differently than everyone else besides the Clippers
I think this is a good haul for Smith (granted he is in his prime). 2 picks that are two years out is a gamble but for a team tearing down, it could end up being quality when that draft rolls around (Heat have Bird/Carroll and Lakers have Thorpe/Griffith under contract in that year and with how FA has gone lately, anything can happen and they can lose their players, small chance yes, but, thats what you bank on when tearing down). You hardly get equal value when dealing top end players (in this league and NBA) so for others to say you could have received more is fair but thats what makes this fun.
For all the talk of why not include Thorpe, clearly the Lakers value him and didnt want to deal him (Im not in the boat of the others thinking he is this great prospect, he is good not great (does a job decently)) so its mute to think what if he was in the deal. Good on Lakers for getting the deal done without including him.
Rebuilding teams that are trying to enter the playoffs wont be looking at Smith as a missing piece so only the top teams would be looking at him so the potential teams to deal with is low and not many have the capital to make this type of deal so considering all that, I think they got a good haul.

Re: Lakers / Clippers
I’m ok with this. I love Lakers pick swaps/protections. Good for the league.
However, Garnett is in his prime, if your retooling it’s good. If your rebuilding, he gives more wins than losses. Which Otis was the better pick. But Clippers said he wasn’t an option. Reason to trade during off-season. True he may not gotten an better offer, but if you reach out to 29 other teams you may find a better offer.
Once you sell, it’s a sell frenzy. Clippers didn’t do that. Got their cap numbers good and provide a nice future.

Smith is quite overrated based on this thread lol but he's a phenomenal piece for the Lakers, specifically.
