Since I am still bitter about it to this day I can say with confidence, we were one Carrington away from winning that game.
Or Holland, or Ifo. Any one of those guys probably makes the difference... but yeah, definitely Carrington. Mariota's only real target for that game was then-freshman Charles Nelson.

I thought Nelson got hurt early in the game... DOH!

My bad... that team imploded from so many directions.

Devon Allen blew his knee in the previous game on the opening kickoff.

On Oregon’s second possession Nelson dropped an easy 3rd down pass that resulted in Oregon punting. I strongly believe if he catches that pass Oregon goes up 14-0 and it’s a totally different ball game.

That's taking teenage Patrick Chung practicing in Spring Ball to a whole 'nother level if Jevon had been on that squad. Are we sure he wasn't on Friday Night Tykes that year?

That's a great question! Why did I say Holland? Meant to say Allen. Had not had coffee.

Didn't Mariota get banged up on a cheap shot early in the game.

The one play I would want to redo was DAT's missed block against Stanford (2012?) that probably cost Oregon an NC.

If the refs had called the game correctly vs Auburn, Oregon would have a championship already.

If Chip had called the game right we would have won. I still don’t understand not blocking Fairley in the red zone. Just dumb.

Yeah, you can point to dumb stuff coaches do, but the bottom line is that Chip did enough to win that game if it was called fairly according to the rules. The fix was clearly in, and Chip's strategy on a couple of running plays wasn't going to change that.

Those “couple of running plays” stopped Oregon at the one yard line in a game they lost by three points, but yes it was all a giant fix against the Ducks….

I'm really not interested in idiotic name calling. If you have an argument to make, make it. The refs blew some really important plays in that game that clearly affected the outcome, way more that one goal line stand affected the outcome. The bit about the fix being in is, admittedly, speculation. The fact that the refs gave the game to Auburn is not speculation.
