Any guesses at the next top 5?

Post by Alan »

We don’t have long to wait for an answer. Does #2 thru #6 simply move up one, I hate Miami, lol. Remember Iowa St is 7-0 at #9, BYU 7-0 at #13, Indiana 7-0, Penn St on a bye week. I think 2 thru 5 moves up and Texas is 6

It'll be Oregon and Penn State at #1 and #2 with #3-5 likely being some order of Ohio State, Georgia, and Texas.. Miami may make their way into the Top 5 if voters only look at their record but I could easily see them staying at #6.

I guess if I'm ranking them, I'm going Oregon, Penn State, Georgia, Ohio State, Miami. After the top two, you really play a game of choosing between record and perceived strength.. BYU, Iowa State, Indiana, etc. are all undefeated but no ranked wins, so do you take them over teams with ranked wins (Tennessee, Georgia, Notre Dame, etc.).

Has anyone looked at Texas's remaining schedule? No top 25 wins at all, and only chance at getting one is A&M at the end of the season. It's a joke that they were above Oregon in the first place after the Ohio State win.

1. Oregon
2. Penn State
3. Ohio State
4. Georgia
5. Miami

This is one of those crazy years that the top 6 look interchangeable. Every team has flaws and has looked average at times. Crazy that it’s been 12 years since Oregon was last ranked #1.

Should be a fun playoff if Oregon can make it in.

You’re close to On3 guess, they have it the same top four with Texas at #5 and Miami staying at #6. BTW they had Illinois with a big jump up the polls.

Miami, BYU and ISU are all unworthy of being in the top 10. They all play bad schedules, and have barely survived most of the games. Give those schedules to USC, Arkansas, S.carolina and Iowa. And all of them would also be 7-0

My Ballot

Oregon - Undefeated - Top 5 win
Georgia - 2 top ten wins only loss was close on the road to a ranked team
Penn State - Undefeated - 1 top 15 win, not dominate against 4 weak teams.
Not Miami

You may be right, I just think we will offensively overwhelm IL next week.
