As "big balls Chip" always used to say, it's not my job to stop my offense. Lots of betting people were thrilled we scored that last TD. I thought it was fine. We ran the ball, and they didn't stop us. Lanning is trying to win a natty, not look good for a committee. UO is purposely running plays to keep the clock running in the 3rd quarter. Like it or hate it, the team is pretty healthy, and guys like James aren’t getting ran into the ground. JStew had multiple games under Chip with 30+ carries, and by the end of the year he was hurt. I get the complaint, but after we do it for like 6 of the last 7 games, maybe people would understand it’s by design. We are 9-0, and could still play another 8 games.

I think you're right. They do call the game differently in the 2nd half this year. They run far fewer screens, more 1st and 2nd down runs and face more third downs. If we jog our memory, Mike Bellotti was the master of shutting down what appeared to be way too early. He was pretty good at it because he very seldom lost the lead but man he made a lot of games close at the end.

Kudos to the coaching staff for the weird punt formation. They changed it up during the game and it actually worked to get a first down w/ the penalty. Combined with the intentional 12 man penalty etc….Next level stuff

For all the talk about the 12th man play vs OSU, this has gone overlooked. That formation was designed to bait the lineman into lining up over the center. They waited till it was 4th and less than 5 yards to use it. Brilliant move.
I'll be completely honest, this is taking it too far to suggest they did that to induce that specific penalty.
I’ll be completely honest. I think it’s more likely this was intentional than the 12 men on the field play. Is it guaranteed to work? Of course not. Kind of like the two point formations where they try to create a mismatch. Why else line up in that formation?
Sucks about Tez. I'm not worried about other receivers picking up the slack, but he's a special player and I wish he could have finished this season. Maybe he can be back in time for the playoffs, but still hard losing him. He's so much fun to watch.
That said, what a perfect time to play Maryland at home. Other receivers are about to get a lot more quality reps. Same goes for our O-line if Harper is going for any extended period of time.
I was sitting right above the tunnel and he walked in and out of it in street clothes with his hand planted flat to his chest. I’d guess broken collar bone - my non-professional prognosis

By the way. U Phil walked thru the UM tunnel after the game. He looked up and gave a thumbs up. Was an honor see the guy up close and to see him happy. But boy did he look every bit his age. His gate was very shaky, slow, and small feeble steps. It made me really wish for a natty this year more than ever.

Even with the heartbroken emoji, I wouldn't exactly rule him out the remainder of the season. Could just be disappointment he'll miss a few games. If he's got a broken collarbone or separated shoulder, there's a chance he could return in time for the playoffs.

The problem I have with this as some kind of "3-d chess" move is that nothing about the formation induces a player to line up in a non-legal position.
