Dillon Gabriel a Heisman Trophy Finalist
Dillon will be going to NYC, along with Travis Hunter (Colorado CB/WR), Ashton Jeanty (Boise State RB), and Cam Ward (Miami, FL QB).

Dillon Gabriel named a Heisman finalist
As many predicted, Dillon Gabriel will be headed to NYC as a Heisman Trophy finalist. He's likely not winning it but still good to have Oregon represented on the stage again.

Happy for Gabriel, but if I have to be honest, I would have gone Skattebo over him for that final spot. Skattebo was such a big part of the ASU resurgence this year.

Gabriel should win. The QB is the most important player on the team. his team is undefeated and No.1. Ward put up bigger numbers, a lot of them in coming from behind games where the video room saved The U, and they still didn't make the Playoffs.
Jeanty, had a great season, hope he gets picked in the 1st round.
Hunter, along with QB Sanders, didn't get Colorado to the Playoffs, but he got a lot of clicks.

Eh, I don’t like the idea of the Heisman being a QB award or an MVP type award going to a player on the best team. They have the Davey O’Brien for best QB. I don’t want this to come off as slamming Gabriel, as I think he’s the perfect QB for this system and has been a big part of their success. That said, I think other guys are bigger parts of their team’s success and having better statistical seasons. When looking at Gabriel’s season, I think it would statistically be one of the least impressive for a Heisman winner in years.Merganzer wrote: Mon Dec 09, 2024 7:34 pm Gabriel should win. All Heisman seasons are different.
If Hunter or Jeanty had this season last year against Jayden Daniels, either them would have won easily imo. That they're each doing it in the same year is what makes it harder to choose between them but I feel like CU would have had the same result against us this year whereas we saw what Jeanty can do up close and it meets the qualifier of "Most-Outstanding." I've also seen Hunter get burned and beaten at CB so it will be interesting to see if all the times Deion has talked about the media hating them if he gets his wish and they vote for his guy over the RB from Boise.
Yet I also think after those 2, that despite the lower numbers as a passer, that DG is also clearly the #3 choice this year because he had 3 Heisman worthy games at the biggest moments in the season to keep the #1 ranking all season long. It also feels like good football karma for DG to not get the individual award and instead get the team award at the end of the season!

Re: Dillon Gabriel named a Heisman finalist
It’s nice he’s getting the recognition but agree that Skattebo should have gotten more votes to take Gabriel or Ward’s spot. Hopefully Jeanty wins it. He carried that team the entire year when everyone did everything they could to slow him down.
