Postseason Tickets

I've seen a lot of scuttlebutt about Rose Bowl tickets getting sold out before season ticket holders all had a chance at them. I'm putting this up so people who are in the alumni association (and presumably donors and season ticket holders) have early access to reserve semifinal and final tickets. You're charged if Oregon qualifies only, so check your inboxes.

Yeah, I missed out on the Rose Bowl tickets, but I'll probably wait until the last minute and try to grab some on Stubhub when the prices go down, since I can drive over to LA, which allows me to hold off as long as possible. In the FSU game, I was able to buy the tickets while in the Rose Bowl parking lot, and got a pretty good deal on them. Luckily, I was able to lock in for the Natty.

I think at this point the only neutral site game should be the Championship, since they're making college into the pros and even the NFL realizes that neutral-site games get garbage attendance and they don't want that on tv during the playoffs.

I'm really curious how well Oregon is going to travel to these postseason games. Already had a season with a lot of "firsts," so people went to locations like Michigan and Wisconsin. Then there was the conference championship in Indy. Now there's the Rose Bowl. The finals would be the finals, so people will go. Semis? Maybe, maybe not. And then what about years 2-10 in the Big Ten?

Oregon isn't the biggest alumni base (Penn State, Ohio State, Indiana). It's not the richest (Notre Dame, USC, Michigan). Just don't know how much blood you can squeeze out of this turnip.

Hopefully the powers that be will realize what a cluster f@*k this year's version of the playoffs and seedings is and revamp it to give the 4 top teams a bye and home game. That way I guess you could choose semi or finals? Turnips aren't that big.

Genuine question, but why do people not have a problem with college basketball playing neutral stadiums the entire post-season?

And don't get me wrong, I would love for the quarterfinals to at least be hosted by the higher seed.

15k fans to fill the place versus 80k. First few rounds are played in mostly-empty arenas, where local fans and friends/family are usually the only audience in the stands.

But if first few rounds are mostly empty arenas, wouldn't college basketball be better off if they hosted them at home stadiums? I'd bet almost every hosting team would sell out in the first two rounds.

I'm unsure if host cities for tournaments actually pay the NCAA for the right or not, ala the "selection process" being a FIFA money-laundering operation to the Administrators for bribes and kickbacks.

I also think as they expand the tournament that could be a potential change as fewer people are able to constantly travel on short notice for these games.

I realize it's still a long way off and it's just reserving, but I'm surprised there are still a few hundred tickets available for the natty. Lowest price point is $705, so maybe I shouldn't be.

Probably 150 or so left for the semis, as well. Lowest price point is $158.
