I'd be curious how many 20 year olds are playing baseball at some level versus sports like gymnastics, wrestling, etc.

Honest question and I hate to be a pessimist, but is that lucky or bad recruiting?

MLB teams are very risk averse to taking highly-rated HS players below round 3 since the guaranteed money is so low and NIL deals can eclipse it.

One of the very few benefits of NIL, the pros can't snag em as easy as before.

It's kind of a big reason college baseball gotten more competitive at all levels as more highly-rated players go to school instead of hitting the minors right away.
