What a dumb hold by Matayo. Where has his head been these last few weeks? Is he dinged up? He just has looked slow and didn’t even attempt to move his feet.

We had them stopped but Thieneman forgot he was playing football on 3rd and long.
He had the guy locked down. It’s really hard to defend very poorly underthrown balls.
It really isn’t especially when you’re paying attention and know where the ball is. I am convinced Flowers, who is clearly our best safety, would have picked that.
Of course.

Well, a win is a win, right? But that was an ugly game and an unimpressive showing by this Oregon team. If we play like that at Iowa in two weeks we will lose by multiple scores.

Everyone settle down. It was a BS PI and Thieneman just slipped or tripped. He was getting ready to make a play on the ball. Nasty weather leading to a funky game. Some good, some bad.

lol, you love to complain. They got bailed out on a bad PI and got lucky on badly underthrown ball while down 21 in the 4th. Boohoo
Nah, that PI call was legit, and, yeah, that long completion was underthrown, but the DBs should have been on it. The entire D is underperforming compared to the amount of talent they have. That's on Tosh and the coaching staff.
Sure thing. The defense ranked 6th in the country in points allowed and 3rd in yards allowed is vastly underperforming. Heaven forbid they gave up a fluky drive after shutting an offense down for 3.5 quarters.
That's fair, but it doesn't account for the weak strength of schedule - Montana St FCS, OK St, - only four teams have a worse defense in FBS than the Cowboys; Northwestern is the definition of mid; Rutgers is worse than mid and Oregon State is even worse than that; Penn State is a paper program that has completely crashed out; Indiana, well we know how that turned out - the Ducks lost to the only quality team we've played. I mean, Toledo and James Madison technically have better defenses than we do based on the "rankings."

I stand by my statement. We're underperforming based on our talent. The next four games will be a real gauntlet where I estimate we have a very real chance of losing at least three of them. Hope I'm wrong.

Was the defense the issue against Indiana? Yes, they gave up some points against one of the best offenses in college football, but they kept the team in the game and had a crucial pick 6, while the offense struggled tremendously. I’m not sure there’s ever been a Ducks defense that I’ve trusted more. They certainly aren’t perfect, but it’s a pretty awesome defense.

WILL STEIN, is incompetent and inconsistent...Terrible play selection and trying to be too flashy...Its been on off and on offensive play selection this year..One game he flashes brilliance and another game he shows a level of play calling equivalent to Cristobals clock management abilities...Just saying

DOOOOM!!!! DOOOOM!!! DOOOOOMMM!!!! Ok. Feels like across message boards Duck fans lose their stuff if things don't go exactly so. It's always been like this. Even and especially in the best of times. We always have this thing like this team isn't that team. Nope, they aren't. And that team wasn't some other team either. We have flaws. Not sure I'd trade this team for any other. Freaking love Dan. He's awesome. Our players and coaches have flaws. That's OK, at least to an extent. I'd love, love to see us not sp always reliant on the short screen game for example. They've started playing with Harkey and Gernorris on the right side at times. Almost like sometimes they know what they are doing. Even when I can in hindsight see what they did wrong I doubt I could ever do that in real time and having coached I can even backup my statement. Man, I sucked. Our coaches have flaws for sure but they are pretty damn good. Maybe, we lay off the sauce a bit.

Yeah as sucky as it was to give up that TD the defense is fine, not the problem. If anything our LB’s are the problem. While I still think Thieneman messed up on that long 3rd down it was a fluke play in a weird messy and rainy game. This isn’t the best defense in the nation and that’s only cause of the LB play, if we had above average LB play it might be as I think overall we have the best secondary in the nation and one of the better DLines (though I’ve been disappointed with Matayo’s effort lately) in the nation.

Our offense is 100% the issue and the reason this team wouldn’t make the playoffs. It feels like Stein, Dante, and the OLine aren’t in sync and we haven’t seen near enough progress at this point in the season. Like another poster said, Stein was spoiled with Nix and Gabriel and their experience/veteran presence, when an opposing defense was disciplined and didn’t fall for his presnap eye candy they were able to make a play anyways. Now that we have a super talented but young QB that tends to get rattled after taking sacks he needs an OC that sets him up for success and help him build confidence and I simply don’t think we have that in Stein. I really think our offense would be far better if we still had Dilly as a playcaller.

Or, maybe we just be realistic about this teams abilities and ceiling. I just dont see the Natty becoming a possibility this year, whether you were a coach or not...And let's face it, Steins play calling has been inconsistent...

To be fair to Stein, he saw Dante get a little rattled early in Rutgers and got him into a confident groove quickly and we saw how that worked out.

Dante led that gorgeous 99 yard drive in some absolutely crappy weather.

Stein and co will go to the film, take 2 weeks to continue growth and I guarantee you we will come fired up for Iowa.

We want this team to be peaking at USC/Minnesota.

Wrighster mentioned Dante seems to be struggling against zones tonight.

Dante can be a bit of a head case when his confidence gets rattled but he has shown he can get it back quickly if he gets 1-2 easy completions.

It’s going to be up to Stein to recognize that and have some checks and to get Dante out of his own head.

I said this earlier. Thomas came in with some pep in his step and body language and immediately you saw our Oline get knockback and physically go to work.

For better or for worse, when Dante gets rattled the Oline gets rattled. I wish Poncho or Noah or even Moore would smack him sometimes and be like “Yo, get your head up, you are Dante Moore.”

FYI, for everyone bitching, Wiscy came in letting up 98 yards a game. They knew we were likely running due to weather and we put up 203 on them, accounting for kneel downs it was 210.

Just skimming through here. There's a bunch of stupid comments and takes about the team, based off a game that was played in terrible weather
