I've been saying that Oregon can't afford another loss, but the CFP rankings were pretty good for Oregon's cause. Iowa, washington, and USC were all ranked. If Oregon goes 2-1 against those teams, they could end up 2-2 against ranked teams, which would be similar to a bunch of the SEC teams that will be arguing that they deserve to be in the rankings. But it's not a good sign that Alabama, Georgia, and other 1-loss teams are ahead of them as they might be the 2-loss teams I'm referring to.

I was thinking the same thing. We still might be able to get in if our second loss is to Iowa. That would still give us 2 ranked wins in our last 3 games (USC/UW). Oklahoma and Texas both have tough schedules to finish the season. OU, in particular, has a gauntlet to run. I don't see them hanging around long. Texas still has to play Georgia and Texas A&M. I think they'll lose those games. Texas Tech could take a second loss when they play BYU this weekend, but they could still be ranked ahead of us. One of their losses, at Arizona State, was a 26-22 game without their starting QB. In addition, if Iowa beats us Saturday they'd have a solid resume to pass us in the rankings and possibly be the third Big-10 team in.
Lots of scenarios still to play out. Right now Oregon controls their own destiny. Win out and they're in. Lose to Iowa, their odds go way down. A loss to UM, USC or UW and we're out.

SC already played ND on 10/18. They played early this year...SC lost.

Assuming Iowa, USC, and Washington don’t lose another game outside us, then yeah we could probably lose one and sneak in still.StevensTechU wrote: Tue Nov 04, 2025 8:18 pm I've been saying that Oregon can't afford another loss, but the CFP rankings were pretty good for Oregon's cause. Thankfully USC and Washington have pretty easy schedules. But if Oregon beats Iowa, I could see them with 5 loses by end of the year.
So if we split USC and Washington, that would be 1-2 against top 25 teams…. In other words, similar to Super Duck, I think we could afford to lose to Iowa, but not USC/Washington.

The main reason I said that is because a loss to Iowa would still give us 3-4 weeks to recover after dropping in the rankings. If we lose to USC or UW, I think that might be too close to the end of the season to recover from unless a lot of dominos fell our way.UOducksTK1 wrote: Wed Nov 05, 2025 10:00 pmAssuming Iowa, USC, and Washington don’t lose another game outside us, then yeah we could probably lose one and sneak in still.StevensTechU wrote: Tue Nov 04, 2025 8:18 pm I've been saying that Oregon can't afford another loss, but the CFP rankings were pretty good for Oregon's cause.
