The likely answer is that Congress will create a unique Tax Exempt Monopoly status to College Sports in order to "preserve the game."
The better answer is that the NIL era goes away and there becomes a cap on coaching salaries because all it has done it make a few people at the top really wealthy while putting that costs on the fan and essentially destroying all but the wealthiest schools and fan bases. You'd make them become students again and only allow them to transfer after the school year is over and actually go back to a system that looks like College Sports instead of the NFL's 2nd League.
So yeah, don't worry, Congress will come in to act on this and "save the day" for our Colleges. Might even be the backbone of a 2026 campaign.

Re: Privatization of College Football (or all of sports)
Reports yesterday were that the private equity deal for the Big Ten is "paused." I'm not 100% it's true, because there's a small chance that it's just to get people to look away and minimize the scrutiny, but we'll see what happens next.
