is ranked ahead of Miami. Same record, Miami beat Notre Dame. Bias anyone? Oh wait, according to the CFP committee, they have "better" losses. Do they get drunk every Tuesday?

But but, Miami didn't lose to Miami, who is better than anyone that Miami lost to, so therefore Notre Dame is better than Miami.

The ND vs Miami thing is weird. And it’s why I’m pretty sure, unless absolutely chaos happens, AC still can’t make the playoffs even with a win over UO. You can’t have those 3 all with 2 L, and have SC jump Miami to get in. When Miami dominated ND, who dominated SC. Not that I think we will lose.

The season is 12 games, not just 1. If they resumes were comparable, give Miami the nod.

The resumes are NOT comparable nor are the analytics. Notre Dame's are significantly better on both fronts.

A 3 point win at home H2H simply doesn't overcome that difference.

Miami won by 3 with a +2 TO margin. That's hardly domination.

I'm mixed on Notre Dame. It's long in the rearview mirror at this point, but ND got robbed in the game against Texas A&M when an A&M offensive lineman fully tackled a Notre Dame defensive lineman who was going to make the game winning sack. That would make them a 1-loss team with a top 10 win and this would all be moot.

But, considering where we are, I think BYU is probably the team with the bigger bone to pick. I didn't think BYU was deserving of a playoff spot early in the season, but they've gotten better throughout the year and now hold a win over a top 20 Utah and obliterated a top 25-ish Cincinnati. Those are very comparable to Notre Dame's wins against USC and Pitt, and BYU has 1 loss while Notre Dame has two. Notre Dame is the 'better team,' but BYU is having the better season and I personally feel that's what should get you into the postseason. If Notre Dame has a complaint about that, then maybe they should join the Big 12.

Be that as it may. Miami controlled that game. And if ND gets in and Miami doesn’t, what’s the benefit to playing tough games in the OOC? You get no benefit for the win, so screw playing nd and make them platt the AAC and WSU and OSU every year.

Judge teams at their current state, not two months ago. Teams can in fact get better (or worse) as the season progresses. With that in mind, I feel ND would crush Miami if they played today. I hate ND and can't stand the grace they're given in the big picture, but they are certainly a better team than Miami, IMO.

I'm trying to imagine all the other sports leagues if they based the postseason on who is playing the best at the end of the season, not who won and lost the most.

Rankings are so strange.

It should be illegal to judge teams at their "current state" instead of the record for the entire season.

The CFB committee adopted this philsophy and it lead to the exclusion of an undefeated FSU for 1-loss teams in the CFB a few years ago. I almost quit CFB altogether because of this travesty. That is how you ruin a sport.

I'm still mad about that.

That philsophy (evaluating teams at their current iteration) can only be adopted if the teams are comparable and it is hard to distinguish between them.

Then again, why play tough OOC games? Either you are on the SEC side, play no one, or you believe every game matters. I’m not fan of Miami, but they beat ND. Who has ND actually beat, that should put them ahead of anyone they lost to? Notre Dame is always overrated, every year. People say they are improved, I guess we’ll find out. I hope they come to Autzen.
