If I’m OSU I’m calling Wilcox people immediately. He becomes my first choice and I make him say no. He was the leghumper’s DC under Sark so he may as well check the “work for both rivals of his Alma mater” box. (Hell, he was at SC too so it would be a trifecta of the enemy).

Wilcox would be a good hire if Moore goes NFL and Wilcox brings his QB. I trust Lanning's rolodex, though.

Mora is at UConn but is a west coast guy; Chryst hasn't been coaching for a few years and is a candidate due to Mike Riley's friendship and I think its actually JaMarcus Shephard one of the many Co-OC's who they interviewed and not Grubb.buckmarkduck wrote: Sun Nov 23, 2025 8:49 pmWhy would any of those guys take the OSU job? Literally zero chance Grubb really wants it. It’s good to get experience interviewing for jobs, but no serious coach will go there. They should just hire one of Michael Vick or DeSean Jackson, and become Colorado 2.0Duck07 wrote: Sun Nov 23, 2025 1:25 pm As I recall from the radio show, Jim Mora, Paul Chryst and the Alabama OC are the Top 3 choices for OSU.
After that it becomes the Montana St HC, the NDSU HC as the next tier and then it was Will Stein, Tosh Lupoi and another I can't recall. By all accounts it sounded like it was more about taking an interview than it was a serious overture.
I don't think Michael Vick or Desean want to be in Corvallis but older guys like Mora or Chryst probably see themselves as able to get 7-8 wins easy enough and have a chance at the Pac title each year.

I belive Mora has better options. If I’m an ACC school I look hard at him. Chryst would be fine at OSU. But the pac is basically just the MWC, and I predict they will eventually merge down the line.

I love Chip for what he did for Oregon football, but he doesn’t appear to fit in Dan’s aggressive, hands on approach.

If you think Chip would be a fit with Oregon’s current staff and culture, I have some beach front property in Nebraska to sell you.
The big donors don't like Chip and there are several high level people in the HDC who don't like Chip.
Take this FWIW

As fun as it is to let the nostalgic, little kid in me dream about bringing Chip back in that role, I’m imagining he’d enjoy an offensive analyst role a lot more. Keep that 62 year old brain active while kicking his feet up and watching all the coaches run wild on the recruiting trail.
I think he and Lanning might find some sparks in a strategy room. Lanning’s the sort to ask for advice and Chip’s the type to give it.
Regarding Lanning’s aggressive style, lest we forget Kelly’s moniker from long ago - Big Balls Chip.
