I will say this. Maiava only complete 58% of his passes and a few of those completions were prayers he just tossed up.
We should have had 2 more picks at least
Any defender will tell you the rules of the game are built to favor offense. The receiver gets the benefit of the doubt. You do your best, you have a short memory and whatever happens happens.
Dan has also hinted in past interviews that he doesn’t care so much about yards in one category, he and Tosh can manage around a one dimensional offense. USC couldn’t establish the run against our base D and so we accepted they were gonna get theirs passing and managed around that.
This game wasn’t as close as the final score indicated. We shoot ourselves in the foot 2x instead of 4x and we win by 21-24 points.

Great job by the backup offensive linemen. They played well enough to win the game.

Quote of the day from Coach Lanning:
"A lot of times we play really good teams, they become unranked all of a sudden. That's not our fault, right...maybe it is our fault."

Still pissed at the refs and Lincoln Riley stuff. Very much Deion Sanders coaching behavior. Intentional facemasks after the game is over. Their players all bolting after the game. "we are a few plays away" kind of bs he always says.
The defensive PI was absurd in this game. Offensive players can make as much contact as they want with no PI, but defender cannot touch a guy at all. Ridiculously slanted to USC.
We get a fair shake on the PI calls in this one and USC doesn't get past 14 points. 2 of the last 3 games (Iowa and USC) have been absolutely atrocious one sides officiating. Shouldn't happen.
Still steaming a bit.
That said, good win. Great job from the backup OL. Praying Poncho is healthy.

We found a way to win. Lots of players out due to injuries. Too many penalties (bull s*** PI notwithstanding
) Just gotta beat the poodles and the refs next Saturday. Would love to host Alabama in a playoff game.

USC receivers were handsy and physical as heck. That's fine if you allow the defense to respond in kind. As the game went on the pushing was mostly one way as the USC WRs knew they could shove off and the UO DBs were playing flag-shy. The USC receivers are very talented and I give them credit for exploiting the way the game was being called.

Funny how much this win impresses everyone. Ducks move past Ole Miss to 5th in the AP poll. USC falls to 19th. I think 5th in the playoff poll puts them back on Ohio State's side of the bracket, so I'm still kind of hoping they stay in 6th. I saw a projection that had Oregon 6th and hosting Miami in the first round with the winner to play Texas A&M. I think that scenario would be ideal for a number of reasons. Really hope that happens.

If there's a full replay available I'd appreciate a link.

I keep watching this and laughing. The gadgetiest of Stein’s gadget plays. If this play goes south—Boettcher fumbles, illegal formation call, etc.—Stein would have probably walked himself out.
But, props to Lanning and Co. for believing in their guys and playing the game their way. At this point, it’s a part of Oregon’s identity. And while these plays become self-owns when they fail, I’m sure they build culture, and they fit so neatly into the brand Oregon has built over the last 30 years. This was the grandson of the 2007 fake Statue of Liberty play.

The Roger Salaepaga QB sneak was a far riskier play that clearly didn't work out when the base offense could have converted that.whosyourwally wrote: Mon Nov 24, 2025 8:44 amI keep watching this and laughing. Moving your Strong Guard to the play side is an old-school move with Gap/Man blocking schemes and while they had 3 defenders in the game, Bryce essentially runs a Dive so that the DL outside are largely window dressing. I liked the play because football is supposed to be fun and they had clearly run this in practice to give those players a chance for something different.
