Oregon OC search
Looks like one name that had ties to Lanning is off the board as Georgia Tech OC Buster Faulkner is headed to Florida.

Chip is only 1 year removed from winning a NC as an OC. Doubt it happens, but I don't think it's necessary or even wise to have recruiting specialists at the coordinator spots. I'd rather have X's and O's guys.

Wouldn't surprise me if he heads back to Ohio State with Hartline gone.wepto wrote: Thu Dec 04, 2025 3:57 pm Chip is only 1 year removed from winning a NC as an OC. What about Stutzmann from SJSU?
“Spread and Shred”
I’d hope he at least gets an interview.

Re: Oregon OC search
Why would anyone want Chip back? I loved his time here, but no thanks. He had the top two rookie RBs at Ohio State last year, and both looked average most of the year. And It took until the playoffs for him to to figure out to throw to Smith. No thanks to Chip, Dan isn’t running a coach restoration program.wepto wrote: Thu Dec 04, 2025 3:57 pm Chip is only 1 year removed from winning a NC as an OC. Didn't realize he had a connection Marcus Mariota as a JV coach at Saint Louis School while MM was there.bdkipe wrote: Thu Dec 04, 2025 5:00 pm What about Stutzmann from SJSU?

I wonder if Mack Leftwich from Texas Tech is a candidate, since his brother Cutter Leftwich is on staff. Lanning even mentioned the brothers during yesterday's press conference when asked about the games this weekend.

Re: Oregon OC search
His track record as a college OC is absurdly strong. He is literally the most recent OC to win a college NC.buckmarkduck wrote: Thu Dec 04, 2025 5:02 pmWhy would anyone want Chip back? He is a shitty HC candidate. Doesn't recruit, fundraise or do media. Will 100% tank a program.
But as an OC? He's probably got the best resume out of anyone in college football.

Re: Oregon OC search
With Ryan Day essentially having been Chip's protege, I can't see Chip being a college OC anywhere other than under Ryan Day if that option is available to him.

Re: Oregon OC search
It's not out of the realm that the OC is someone who will be able to help coach Dante/QB's and in the NIL age and new recruiting rules, the emphasis on having an Ace recruiter can be less important than getting a great teacher and play-caller.
