Well, that was fun (FINALLY!!). Happy for Ole Miss given what they've had to deal with.

Have to give Georgia every opportunity, haha. This final four was not the final four ESPN wanted.

That was easily the best CFP game of the year. Can't help but find it funny that Lane leaves and Ole Miss gets their first ever CFP wins before he does.

I didn't like Lanning going for it on 4th down, up 16, on a 50/50 chance that he'd give TTU a short field to work with. So that said, I think Deboer going for it on 4th on his side of the field is one of the dumbest decisions I've seen this season by a coach.
Alot of coaches making very bad fourth down decisions today. Kirby going for it on fourth down on their side of the field in a close game was also one of the dumbest decisions i’ve seen all season.

Agree, it should be played in phoenix or some site in between. Its absurd how the location of these games for the rest of the decade gives another advantage to east teams. If you’re a west coast team and make it to the natty, you and the majority of your fans will already have traveled at least 2-3x the mileage of a east team and endured 2-3 timezone changes every week.UOducksTK1 wrote: Thu Jan 01, 2026 5:23 pmYou are negative, but I also agree. Oregon is gonna have a tough time beating Indiana. But I also think they are one of a few teams that could. Execution, especially on offense, needs to be elite.OregonFan4Life wrote: Thu Jan 01, 2026 4:57 pm I know I’m negative but I’m struggling to see how Oregon beats Indiana.

For the nerds-
Bo Nix (2023) holds the record for highest completion percentage in a season at 77.45% in his last season at Oregon. Going into the CFP quarterfinals, Ohio State's Julian Sayin had completed 78.2% of his passes. However, after a lackluster performance against Miami, Sayin dropped to 77.0% completion percentage, preserving Nix's spot at the top for another season.

Kind of interesting that the one time Alabama has to travel out of their region, they get smoked. Traveling is hard, which is why the SEC doesn't do it much.alxtw wrote: Fri Jan 02, 2026 2:29 am

I admit I hadn't considered that Ole Miss is the "Rebels," an obvious reference to the South in the Civil War, which is what I assume you mean by "slaver mascot" -- though I guess "Col. Reb" was indeed retired for that reason in 2003. And I would have liked Georgia to win from the standpoint that it would have allowed for a potential NCG matchup between Lanning and his former boss.StevensTechU wrote: Thu Jan 01, 2026 9:56 pm Think I would've preferred Georgia to win. I don't know what there is to like about University of Mississippi, a slaver mascot, the state of Mississippi, or anything associated with them. Chambliss is a good story, I suppose. Maybe he'll be the ducks QB next year.

Re: CFP Quarterfinals (other than Ducks)
There was once a movement by students at Ole Miss to use General Ackbar from Star Wars as the "Rebel" mascot, which honestly would have put them up there with us for best mascots in the nation had they done that.Greenblood wrote: Fri Jan 02, 2026 4:13 pmI admit I hadn't considered that Ole Miss is the "Rebels," an obvious reference to the South in the Civil War, which is what I assume you mean by "slaver mascot" -- though I guess "Col. Pete Golding seems like a version of Dan Lanning one might find at a Dollar Tree in Florida.
I did not have bringing cancel culture into one’s rooting interest in the CFPB on my bingo card today so that was uh, interesting.

Re: CFP Quarterfinals (other than Ducks)
First, I was being snarky. (What else is new?)
Second, I seem to remember getting called out on here for (checks notes) calling PSU fans out for supporting the program during the Sandusky Scandal. Comments were made like “none of the people that are in students there were even born when that happened (1990-2003).
I’ll check my notes but I’m pretty damn sure no one in the state of Mississippi was alive during the Civil War.
If we want to play the “yeah-but-racist-state-history” game? I encourage you to look up Oregon’s sordid past.
To me, saying that you wanted Ole Miss to not win because their mascot is a rebel is about as ridiculous as saying you don’t like Kenyon Sadiq because he’s from Idaho and Idaho is chock full of Neo-Nazi a-holes.
It was a poor attempt at humor, I’ll see myself out.

What does slavery have to do with anything?

Re: CFP Quarterfinals (other than Ducks)
I’m not sure where you were called pro-slavery? I sure wasn’t attempting to. I was just confused where the cancel culture comment was coming from? You are definitely right about Oregon’s not so distant past when it comes to racism/slavery. I think what was alluded to was that the mascot is still a rebel, not that it used to be, which would be more in line with your examples here. But either way, I apologize if you felt you were being called pro-slavery, I don’t think that is something that should be thrown around lightly.bdkipe wrote: Fri Jan 02, 2026 9:48 pmoh FFS. All good. I just like poking the bear from time to time.
