Re: Oregon Football - 2026 Transfer Portal
Luke Moga is entering the portal. Oregon's QB room could look vastly different, especially if Dante doesn't return.

I'll do a separate post once we see where more of these transfers settle, but it very much looks like the days of hoarding talent is not going to be possible in this era of football (with unlimited free agency, however long it lasts). That means virtually all teams will have Mike Riley Oregon State Syndrome - dangerous starters, but every season just an injury away from things going down the tubes.

Was hoping for Sam Leavitt if Dante leaves.

Re: Oregon Football - 2026 Transfer Portal
I was really hoping we'd keep Moga. I didn't love him when we signed him but each spring looked like he got closer to being a starter. Thought maybe he'd put it all together and be an exciting QB with his speed. I'd be all over him as a midmajor program.
I can only seem to recall JJ Greenfield coming back to the Ducks after a transfer, but we'll see if that happens with anyone now that the exits are getting bigger and bigger.

Have some friends at Nebraska and rumors there(even before Raiola(sp) transferred) that he was not the easiest to get along with....other players on the team. Also rumors that is dad was something else and not in a good way. Just rumors of course.
To Stu and other talent evaluators....whats the word about Smith Jr. I still think hes gonna make a big jump this off season. But thats just me and I did NOT stay at a holiday inn last night

That really sucks, he has a ton of potential, but I also can’t blame him. I don’t care if I sound crazy but the only reason I can comprehend why he and Wyatt got so little snaps and Tuioti got so many is nepotism. Tuioti is good but I don’t feel his performance on the field justifies the amount of snaps he gets compared to Purchase and Wyatt.StevensTechU wrote:Blake Purchase to the portal. I hate everything.

Have to think it means Matayo and/or Teitum return now. It does allow for players like Ashton Porter, Elijah Rushing, Tobi Haastrup, Nasir Wyatt, and Tank Jones to get bigger roles.

Tuioti had a much better season than Matayo so you’ll have to work that into your nepotism theory.
Does anyone have any insight into why the transfers are so much more significant this year? Is it due to losing both coordinators or is this just the way the sport is going?

I think part of it is the coordinators leaving but also the guys transferring are ones that have waited a few years and now want to play or older guys who've been passed by the newer recruits. It's just going to happen with how Oregon recruits. All the top recruiting schools are having this issue, even schools like Ohio State, Texas, Bama, and UGA.dthomas=ddixon wrote: Sun Jan 11, 2026 2:17 pm Tuioti had a much better season than Matayo so you’ll have to work that into your nepotism theory.

Re: Oregon Football - 2026 Transfer Portal
Down for down, Tuioti was a better player than Purchase. Better run defender and comparable pass rusher. I'm not bummed because I think he's the better player in 2026. I'm also not bummed because we lack for talent at the position. I'm bummed because the Ducks are a better team with him on the roster than without him.
Unlike losing Moga or Novosad, who may never see the field in 2026, Purchase would have brought three years of experience and a lot of athleticism into next season and played a lot of meaningful snaps. Those will now go to other very talented players who will be good but not as good - yet.
If there's a lesson to learn from Indiana, it's that you want to have the best players on the field, not just the most talented. Guys are better in their 4th-6th years than their 1st and 2nd. If you're a team that is perpetually getting younger, then you're a little bit of a hamster on a wheel. In addition to the 2026 impact, I would have loved to have 5th year Purchase be the starter in 2027 because he probably is a better player than 2nd year Tank Jones.
