Bots/spammers slowing board down?

I've been noticing the board getting bogged down a lot the last 24 hours as it seems there's lots of of guests online, many of whom I presume are bots/spammers. During the baseball game, there were over 2700 guests and now at 2 AM, there's nearly 2300 of them.

I've tried all the countermeasures I can. Contacted hosting to see if they have any ideas. The problem is the Chinese bots use VPNs, making it almost impossible to block them entirely.
