Scott Frost official. WR coach

I LIKE IT! I could almost at this point care less who the wr coach is as much as we finally have one. (sarcasm edit). Supposed to be officially announced later.

Reading his bio, sounds like he would have been a better replacement for Allioti. How does this guy get a wide receiver job?

If he's only a WR's coach, I guess there may be legs to the Day for QB coach rumor. We do need a QB coach if Chip takes over this year.

I'm not gonna question Chip Kelly's genius, but I thought he had someone in mind when they let Pflugrad go. Hiring a former college QB/Pro Safety who was last a Linebackers coach at UNI to coach receivers seems like an odd hire.

Not that I was all that attached to Pflugrad but he had quite a bit more experience coaching the position. This hire seems more about getting rid of Pflugrad than it does about bringing in one of Chip guys. Hopefully he can recruit!

Yeah, I don't want to judge here, but this doesn't make much sense. Sounds like we scrambled just to find anyone instead of getting the "best" guy out there.

I'm pretty sure that it has been said that both of the coaches let go were at the end of their contracts so it was either time to let them go or renew their contract. Since Kelly wanted to replace them, it makes sense to let them go now since he should be the HC within a few years. I would guess that other coaches will be let go as soon as their contracts are up, but are still on the staff right now because they still have time left on their contracts.

Good pt Mops. Initially I was less than enthusiastic re the Frost possible hire due to not being a current WR coach; but we need to remember that hiring a college position coach isn't just about their experience at the specific position. Scott was a very good QB in college, so it's not like he brings nothing to the table in regards to coaching WRs. Furthermore, Chip wants guys on his team than are like him in regards to recruiting & work ethic. The word is SF is a very hard worker and luvs to recruit as Mops pointed out.

Bottom line is we now have a WR coach and we need to trust CK & Frost with the rest of it.

Don't forget he spent time playing for Bill Walsh and was in the league. Plus when the kids are acting up he can pull out his national championship ring...

Maybe hiring Frost means he's the D-cordinator in waiting. Just a thought.

Scott Frost has some good credentials, especially the coaches that he has learned from. His attitude seems to fit perfectly with Kelly. He has some name recognition in the midwest so may become easier to recruit that area. This may turn out to be a smart hire in the future since it seems like he could also become a defensive coach if he was needed there. He could also become a QB coach if Kelly gave that title up after becoming the head coach.
