Weekend Recruiting Notes

Got a few bits of information that didn't make it into a story this week and is stuff I thought some here might be interested in knowing.

Oregon ATH Keanon Lowe was recently visited by Coach Greatwood and will be coming down for an Oregon only Junior Day on March 1st. Said he will also be going to OSU possibily this coming weekend or next weekend for an unofficial visit. Lowe's high schoo, Jesuit, will be playing Skyline out of Washington next season and will match up against probable #1 QB in 2010 Jake Heaps. Skyline also has Jamall Kearse and Kasan Williams who will both be 4* WRs and Williams possibily being a 5* WR in the 2011 class. That matchup should be a good one as Lowe should cover one of these guys when he plays defense.

I was contacted by a guy who follows recruiting in Florida and Georgia and he informed me of some guys Oregon is looking at. Some are guys we already know but otheres are some nice finds. Guys who we don't already know about are CB Tony Grimes out of Hollywood High School. Grimes should get offers from all the big schools but my source informed me the Ducks still have a shot at getting him as he is interested in Oregon. The other is WR Joshua Reeseout of Miami Central high school. Reese is the one we could have a better shot at getting as he is interested in Oregon and the state of Florida is loaded with WRs and he should get passed on by the big schools in Florida. Said to have very good hands and route running ability to make up for his "slower florida" speed.

Oregon commit Curtis White was recently visited by the Cal coaching staff and he informed me he said thanks for no thanks and that every other coach is on a road with no end in sight for getting him to switch. He's not looking around. Also stated teammates QB Jordan Johnson is getting a look from Boise State. Johnson is a 6' dual threat QB that should be the state's top QB next year. If he was taller he'd get offers from many other schools. Sheldon's big man Drew Minor who is 6'3 340 is getting looks from UW at O and D line. Might be guys to keep tabs on if we whiff. I dont think personally they are Oregon players right now however.

Thanks Mops! Wish every Oregon commit could just brush off competing coaches as easily as White does. I met Curtis at the UCLA game and welcomed him, letting him know he's following a long line of tradition at the TE position that has successfully gone pro and would looking forward to him filling those shoes. The kid was very humble and gracious, as well as, interested in discussing football with just a casual fan. This kid has the right kind of attitude to be successful that's for sure.

Isn't 2010 really when we should be looking for our next QB? Who's on the radar?

Thanks Mops. I'm really looking forward to this 2010 class to start to pick up. Get signing day over with & move on to '10!

That is an update on the current class. Not much that we don't already know, although there is Braxton Lane who hasn't been discussed much. I'm also concerned about Lavaser Tunei not qualifying.

With the number of JUCO guys the Ducks have had commit who don't qualify, it seems like the Ducks would be wise to stop putting so much time into JUCO guys and spend more time going after HS recruits.

Yeah....True...But then again, there is a reason why many of the quality JUCO guys are JUCO guys...
Probly not the sharpest knives in the drawer.

Keanon Lowe is such an insane athlete. I go to Jesuit and I see him out there working his ass off every day. That would be a huge get because he has a ridiculous amount of potential.
