Randall & Kelly = Engaged
"If it wasn't going to be Oregon, I told Chip I was thinking about going to Florida to play receiver,'' Randall said. "I told him I wouldn't mind being the next Percy Harvin or something. But he said he could turn me into the one of the greatest QBs ever in the Pac-10. I said `OK coach, do your magic and I'll come with it.' "

The article fails to mention that Bennett will also be on the roster, but still an interesting read.

``Coach Tyrell booked me a lot of visits,'' Randall said. ``But I'm not going to take any. Chip said when you're engaged with a girl, you don't go [sleeping with] other girls. He said he's going to keep his commitment to me as long as I keep it to him. Even if I get hurt, I'd still have a scholarship.''

Throws the ball 81 yards and runs a 4.4 40. Wow!thegreenstain wrote:"If it wasn't going to be Oregon, I told Chip I was thinking about going to Florida to play receiver,'' Randall said. I love how Kelly really gets these recruits excited to be coming to Eugene. The results so far with Chip haven't been all that bad.

How awesome is Chip...(rhetorical question).
“If everybody in this room just want to be real with themselves, this game could have went either way,” he said. “We turned the ball over a lot. We beat ourself. Just be real with yourself right now. We beat ourself.”

Cool article. I like that they had them diagram how to beat defenses in front of all these QB gurus. Good to see he's worked on the schematic part of the game and learn to not just rely on his impressive physical tools.

Damn, this kid is gonna MORE than compete......Granted his clips show him playing against HS defenses, but he looks like he is damn near ready to step onto a college field and take over...With a lil help and tutoring, his future looks pretty damn bright....

He's pretty far from being ready. His mechanics are not very good. His athletism and arm are off the charts.ducksrock wrote:Damn, this kid is gonna MORE than compete......Granted his clips show him playing against HS defenses, but he looks like he is damn near ready to step onto a college field and take over...With a lil help and tutoring, his future looks pretty damn bright....

Of course, but...after all, he is a HS player....however, he shows alot more promise than most of the HS QB's out there.....I personally like the fact that he doesnt sit back and wait to take off down field....It just seems natural to him..Use his speed and he's gone...Give the kid an opportunity to have a lil bit of protection from a competant OL and he most likely will be something very special....Phenom wrote:He's pretty far from being ready. His stats this year have been VERY lackluster. Still, my favorite player in this class so far. Has as much potential as any QB we've ever had.ducksrock wrote:Of course, but...after all, he is a HS player....however, he shows alot more promise than most of the HS QB's out there.....I personally like the fact that he doesnt sit back and wait to take off down field....It just seems natural to him..Use his speed and he's gone...Give the kid an opportunity to have a lil bit of protection from a competant OL and he most likely will be something very special....Phenom wrote:He's pretty far from being ready. Re: Randall & Kelly = Engaged
I'm very excited about this kid but even with his off the charts athletic ability I think Bennett is going to be the next great Oregon QB. The kid is tough, is more mobile than DT and his arm and accuracy are amazing. I actually think that Bennett is going to put up a hell of a fight this spring/fall camp to earn the starting QB spot and would not be surprised if he were to pull it out.
Our incoming QB's this year (Mariota, Randall) are going to have a hard time taking the starting QB spot from Bennett after DT graduates. Once BB graduates or god forbid gets injured, they will get their shot at being "The Man" but until then I just don't see it happening since Bennett came in much more polished than previous QB's in the past and faced much stiffer competition in HS.
If i'm wrong I will gladly eat a heaping pile of crow because that would mean Randall or Mariotta are playing lights out and once again we will be blessed with amazing talent and depth
