We can't even win with Anderson pitching for us, brutal.

I don't think we overachieved last year. Our success was unexpected in the preseason, but by season's end we had established 3 dynamite starters, an awesome bullpen, and enough clutch hitting to get by offensively. Everything was there.

This year, it's not than we're untalented, it's that we're inexperienced in a bunch of places. The starting pitching is really good, but we lost Gagnier (draft), Boer (rotation), and Jones (rotation) from the bullpen, so we're either throwing out freshmen to get us out of clutch situations, ineffective former stars (McGough), or guys who we didn't count on for clutch innings prior (Housey, Moen). So the bullpen, naturally, has been a mess. Offensively, on any given night we seem to be throwing out 4 or 5 freshmen in the lineup, and for every Aaron Jones we seem to have 3 kids who just aren't ready to hit at this level. Losing E-Rod has been more of an issue than most thought, and I said it before the season started and I'll say it now: Steven Packard was our best freshman last year, and losing him to a Mormon mission really hurt. Serna seems to be pressing, trying to make up for a lack of production which only hurts his own production. We seem to have even less power this year than last, which is almost unbelievable.

I think, if everyone comes back next year (Anderson, Boer, Serna), we'll be quite good, as our bullpen and line-up should make a 2010-level jump in productivity. This year, our competition is only going to get better, so I'd be shocked if we finish .500; we're really going to need to start roaring through our OOC games, which we've yet to prove we can do.

Seems almost like the first season all over again when they would get some decent pitching but no offensive support.

Things aren't THAT bad.

Thanks for breaking that down, I'm not nearly as informed yet in the baseball program as the football & basketball programs, so it's good to hear some details from someone who is (and things make more sense now). It's too bad things have played out this way, hopefully we can pull out the rest of this series from the Fuskies.

And, our vets are being stupid:

A bad error by Petersen at 1st allows the leadoff runner to reach base in the 10th. The next batter sacrifices, McGough makes an incredibly stupid/difficult throw to 2B to try to get the lead runner, which of course he does not. Now, two on, no out for the Huskies. They won yesterday on an error by Serna. With our team struggling as badly as it is, our vets need to do better.

And just like that, Oregon is down 2-0 in the 10th. A Marder passed ball got the second run in.

Losing a series to Washington, AT HOME? It literally does not get any lower than this.

Well that freaking sucks. Losing to the Fuskies in anything, Bass fishing included, is just a terrible feeling. Losing twice, in two days!! Awful

Too bad Boer and Anderson can't pitch every game.. Our offense sucks.

Oregon up 2-0 in the top of the 4th, but should easily have more runs after leaving some baserunners in scoring position on in the 2nd.

HR by Peterson in the bottom of the 5th to make it 3-0 Ducks.

5-0 Oregon in the bottom of 6th after Serna drives home Brett Thomas with a single and then Pulfer drives in Serna with a double.

Ducks get 4 more runs in 7th off a bases loaded walk to Serna to score Peterson, a 2 RBI single up the middle by Pulfer, and then a wild pitch to score another. 9-0 Oregon.
