Boise State Broncos

Ducks will own the Broncos. That doesn't mean that anyone is taking them lightly. They will own them precisely because they are not taking them lightly... and they have superior talent and coaching.

It seemed pretty easy to move the ball against them when we had a capable passer in the game. And I don't see the D being gamed into an overly-aggressive scheme again. Give Petersen credit for pulling off a surprise stunt scheme for one game and catching the Ducks in the middle of a QB transition. Without those factors going for him, they wouldn't have had a prayer.

We very easily could be using the same argument this year, only replacing QB transition with Coaching transition. I think we have a lot more question marks than BSU does this year. If our O-Line doesn't come together, which is a real possibility, then we could be in for a long day / season.

Masoli has already stated that he isn't even thinking about the Heisman stuff but just focusing on the blue turf. He's got it bad: the revenge factor that is.

I know Boise State has a great home record but look at the teams they have beaten there, there are not too many top BCS conference teams that have even played there so other than them blowing out the Beavers a few years ago they really haven't beaten anybody outside there conference there so I don't think it will be as big a deal as a lot of people are making it. I think with a healthy experienced Masoli, Blount and supporting cast with more talent than a year ago, albeit young with revenge for the cheap play the Ducks will dominate this game!

I agree with a lot of you that the ducks will have revenge on their minds.That is a scary thing given Chip Kelly surely wants to make a statement there and has a lot of time to focus on Boise State. I have said this before not so much on here but just to friends around here. I hope the ducks keep their head in the game and do not give away cheap 15 yard personal fouls cause lose their focus. On the same thought I hope the refs keep a close eye on the play from Boise State to be sure they do not get away with the dirty couple of plays got away with last year. I would not be surprised if they try to take Masoli out of the game again this year.

IMO, (And this went for when I was coaching, as well) I would much rather make a "statement" by whuppin' the stuffin' outa the Busted Broncos without the cheap shots... Seems like that would be a far more humbling experience.

Anyone that isn't worried about this Boise State game must have a lot more confidence in the Oregon offensive line than I do.

I'm with you on this one. Playing an opener on the road on the smurf turf against a very good non BCS team is anything but a easy win. Not to mention we have a guy running our team that has never been a head coach before.

Talentwise we overmatch them. CK will work his magic and I'm confident we'll produce.

But if we have a Purdue type game against Boise, they will defeat us. And that's why I'm cautious to label this game as a win before it's played.

Boise does not have the humidity issue that plagued the Ducks at Purrdue; Humidity coupled with heat is a factor which plagues the Western teams; definitely impacted Cal at Maryland last year.

BSU had the Autzen game in its crosshairs from the beginning of fall camp; Oregon was focused on Washington; that little factor will be equalized.

This game is going to receive some huge hype come fall. Huge pressure will be on BSU, since this will make or break their BCS hopes; that type of focus could be a distraction to the Bronc's more than the Ducks.

Barring injuries in fall camp, the Ducks look pretty well set at qb depth which brings a passing game into this equation.

BSU is a good program, and is defending its home turf, but I have some heavy optimism on the Ducks for this game.

Yeah Boise is a dry heat. The only problem with air quality there is if there are massive wildfires raging throughout the State this summer. The biggest problem I see is the smurf turf. It will be a mental distraction and it gets excessively hot on that field being that the dark color catches the sun and traps it.

let's also not forget that a lot of our team is from california, where is is always very hot and home of some of the worst wild fires ever last year. I'm not trying to start a great debate here or anything. I'm just sayin i think we will be ok in the heat and wildfire departments.
I do think if we get by boise st. we will be poised to have a great season. That being said I think the term great season has changed alot for us in the last few year. Before 8 or 9 wins would be great to me. Now less than 10 is just ok. I am aware that we are spoiled now and i love it. I'm sure all of you probably feel the same way.
