They are calling his bluff on his stated reason for wanting to transfer. They picked a school that met the music requirement but also picked the one he would most likely not be given a football scholarship or earn playing time if they did give it to him. They are trying to pressure him into taking the deal they offered him of playing football for them while taking music at a Denver college.
He probably would prefer to go to Arizona State where he could play football and pursue music with a friend on the ASU team. Colorado is blocking the ASU transfer because it would be a no-brainer for him. By limiting him to USC they are trying to pressure him into staying.
In the long run this will backfire on the Buffs and be used against them in future recruiting.
Wow. That's pretty underhanded of them.
I don't believe in blocking players from transfer. How do you justify it except for selfish reasons? It's not like the military where you invest in training a soldier. The school MAKES money off of the players.

Is Smith the guy that Diante Jackson is buddies with, and almost went to CU because of him?

Not sure... Smith will be a junior in eligibility, wherever he lands.

Wow this just occurred to me...but...Didn't we just sign there offensive coordinator...there recruiter who brought these two guys there...that could be not only part of the reason but a huge thing for us getting these two hear...this doesn't seem quite as outlandish or unfathomable now.

That's a really good point, I don't know how none of thought of that yet

I would very pleased if Scott came here. A long ways to go though.

A another blog weighing in on the Smith/Scott transfer.
http://blog.oregonlive.com/ducks/2009/0 ... _wr_a.html
"Smith would be a junior this year and has a redshirt year still available. He's Colorado's best deep threat, a phenomenal, not a good, but a phenomenal punt returner. He's also the uncle of one Darrell Scott. No word on how this will affect Scott, who chose to come to Colorado based in no small part on the idea that he would get to play with Smith who is his uncle and one year ahead of him with the Buffs at this point. Scott also has a redshirt year available if he were to transfer.
Scott had a tough time adjusting to the speed of the college game last year, but partof that might've been due to the Oregonesque level of injuries CU suffered to it's seive-like offensive line last year (4 starters missed huge amounts of games last year and true freshmen had to play at one point.)
Even so, Scott was all-world this spring. Slimmer, cut, and running wild, Scott looks like he's poised to break out and become the all-american back everyone expected him to become after he was the nation's number one rated back just a couple years ago in high school."

Take this for what it's worth (in no way fact). My family is close with people who are very close to CU football; even with Smith leaving, I think the Buff's staff would be surprised to see Scott leave.
