Not gonna lie, the obstruction rule in softball is dumb. I’ve already seen multiple times in the few games I’ve watched where clear outs that weren’t impacted at all by where fielders were positioned were overturned by this dumb rule. Doesn’t even feel right when it’s in favor of the Ducks.

Both obstruction and the ball over the bag were clearly the right calls though.

See you tomorrow apparently for this game, lol

It might be correct by the letter of the rule. Just think the way the rule is constructed is really stupid. It’s almost impossible to get anything but a force out without obstruction. Saw a really obscene version of this in an Ole Miss highlight from earlier.

Bummer, but frankly a lot less mad than I would've been if Oregon didn't benefit from a silly rule. Bruins played better and deserved to win.

Dang. Basically two bad pitches with two outs costs Oregon the game.

Agree. Ducks didn’t deserve to win it based off that ridiculous rule, so I’m not upset about the walk-off.

Trying to tell my buddy this exact same thing! UCLA had more clutch at-bats and Oregon only pushed it to the bottom of the 7th due to a technicality. Think of how ticked off we'd be if Oregon lost on that same obstruction call?

Chances of winning a natty are very slim, but I'd be pretty happy with a CWS win vs. Ole Miss to stay around for another game.

Had to watch late, what a lackluster and uninspiring performance from Oregon. UCLA brought the energy and Oregon simply did not match it. UCLA is a better team though.

I’m starting a petition to ban using team bats to make noise in the dugout, that was annoying me.

Onto Ole Miss.

Elimination day. Another slot in the latest game of the day. Have to wonder whether the late start and light issues yesterday affected the team, but hopefully they can leverage it into some kind of a rhythm.

Agreed, that was reckless base running by Sinicki, aggressive is one thing. On the other hand, hard to find the adjective to describe the number of times Ducks were striking out with swings above their heads. Great catch by Luchar at the wall. As much better as Ucla played, it was close.

My wife watched the game and she said she thought UCLA was just a better team, I said probably but Oregon didn’t really give themselves a chance to prove otherwise as it felt like they couldn’t get out or their head mentally.

It just felt to me UCLA brought fire and energy and Oregon just didn’t match it, they seemed timid and in their own heads and I felt that was visible with the bad swings in full counts (I think I counted four times Oregon batters chased bad pitches on full counts that should’ve been walks) and when Sinicki I think it was didn’t pay attention to the first base coach and missed an easy double.

As dumb as it was it seemed that obnoxious “partytime” UCLA had completely took momentum and psyched Oregon out.

Someone might want to remind them that if they lose the season is over, what a rocky mistake filled start for the ducks.

Good response from Oregon to take the lead.

Smart move by Lombardi to pull McCoy from 1B after two errors and put Ma'ake in. She looked unsure of herself out there.
