And is it clear whether or not Lupoi, like Stein, stays on calling plays for the Ducks for the remainder of their season?

It's a good problem to have since it means Oregon has been successful enough for Hampton to get a look.buckmarkduck wrote: Tue Dec 02, 2025 5:23 pm Problem with Hampton, is people are already penciling him in as the HC replacement at South Carolina whenever they fire Beemer in the future. But if he’s that good for a year or two, I can live with it.
It just helps him bring in more talented Coordinators if they all keep getting HC jobs.buckmarkduck wrote: Tue Dec 02, 2025 5:23 pm Problem with Hampton, is people are already penciling him in as the HC replacement at South Carolina whenever they fire Beemer in the future. Oh, I agree. Which is why I think we have a real chance at Mac Leftwich or Hartline, if we want them.Duck07 wrote: Tue Dec 02, 2025 5:33 pmIt just helps him bring in more talented Coordinators if they all keep getting HC jobs.buckmarkduck wrote: Tue Dec 02, 2025 5:23 pm Problem with Hampton, is people are already penciling him in as the HC replacement at South Carolina whenever they fire Beemer in the future. I'm not being a jerk by asking this, I just don't genuinely know much about him as a DC. What in your opinion makes him elite?
I'm not in the room, but if memory serves, he ran a quality defense at Tulane, and more recently, the Oregon defense got better when he came on to support Tosh.bellsduck wrote: Tue Dec 02, 2025 8:47 pmI'm not being a jerk by asking this, I just don't genuinely know much about him as a DC. Also, with the Tulane HC open, is there any concern Hampton ends up there?
That job sounds like it's going to LSU DC Blake Baker.bellsduck wrote: Tue Dec 02, 2025 8:47 pmI'm not being a jerk by asking this, I just don't genuinely know much about him as a DC. What in your opinion makes him elite?

Edit: Cal has made it official.
It really could be someone already on staff but it'll likely be someone from the outside. They probably need another good recruiter to replace some of Tosh's abilities there.pdxduck2013 wrote: Fri Dec 05, 2025 2:37 pm I know that outside of Hampton leaving to be Head Coach somewhere that he is our next Defensive Coordinator, but are there any rumors for who is going to take Tosh's positional coaching spot on the staff or be the new co-DC?
As for Tosh's staff, it will be interesting to see who ends up on his staff. I wonder if he keeps anyone from the current Cal staff or if he brings anyone from the current Oregon staff with him.
Agreed. A guy that could make sense from that standpoint:greenyellow wrote: Fri Dec 05, 2025 4:01 pmIt really could be someone already on staff but it'll likely be someone from the outside. Highly doubt they bring in another guy who's only coached DBs in his career when they still have Hampton and Wadood.pdxduck2013 wrote: Fri Dec 05, 2025 4:15 pmAgreed. -Maryland co-DC Aazaar Abdul-Rahim (he and Lanning were on staff together with Saban at Bama in 2015).
The thinking with that would be that Hampton can focus solely on being the DC, Lorig coaches OLBs like he has done before, and you don't have to rely on Wadood to handle the entire secondary.greenyellow wrote: Fri Dec 05, 2025 4:24 pmHighly doubt they bring in another guy who's only coached DBs in his career when they still have Hampton and Wadood.pdxduck2013 wrote: Fri Dec 05, 2025 4:15 pmAgreed.
