The committee really messed up this new format, it really ruined the meaning of conference championships and regular season games.

Regular season still matters (ask Miami and Ole Miss). But I'm having a hard time understanding the need and/or benefits of conference championship games ... maybe it would make more sense if the seeding was best 4 instead of top 4 conference champions getting byes but there's no sense getting upset at the format, it is what it is.

If conference championships were still between division leaders and not the top two overall teams in a conference, these would mean a lot more. You’d have a lot of teams playing for a shot in the playoffs, and when the underdogs won, it’d really shake up the brackets. Not saying that’s a better model, just that it would add a lot of value to CCGs.

I'm sure we all want to beat PSU but at this point losing looks like an easier path to the National championship game. I'm going to look at that as a can't lose for this Saturday and I won't be nearly as nervous watching.

Funny thought, but if we win the conference championship game and finish #1 in both polls then we'll have basically eclipsed the Huskies' half-natty in which they only finished #1 in one poll after winning a single postseason game.

My thoughts exactly. I'd rather win the conference and beat whoever is in front of us (this team is plenty good enough) but having an easier path through the first two rounds of a playoff is a very nice consolation prize.

For pride sake I’d rather Oregon beat Penn State and win the B1G, but I am personally more nervous about injuries than the outcome of the game on Saturday.

Has this actually been substantiated anywhere outside of the commentators who want to push the SEC?
