Definitely a blunder. I thought the defensive player likely got pulled off the bag and she should've been safe, there just wasn't a good enough camera angle to show it. Doesn't excuse anything.
Oregon pitchers are looking like it's the end of a long season.
Her foot came off the bag for a split second but just no angle to see if Legg got back in time.
As for pitching, both HRs by OU have come off pitches that were mislocated by Sokolsky and Grein as you could see Cox was expecting the pitch to be somewhere else. Also isn't helping that the ump has wildly different strike zones for Oregon compared to Oklahoma. Grein should have had a strikeout the pitch before the HR she gave up.

OU pitcher is getting a very FAVORABLE zone, especially low.

Its pretty telling when the commentators use the coded language "navigating her way through a smaller strikezone."
They usually carry the crews' water to justify any call.
Flannery just had to take an "inside strike 2."
Changes the at-bat.
Sander's 2nd HR was class...that edge strike call comes and goes... she's looking inside and drops the barrel on it.
Looking like the ride is over.

The strike zone seems to change by the inning and it looks to be frustrating Grein and Oregon to no end. OU is consistently getting every low strike but Grein is lucky to get one every couple batters.

Ducks are eliminated after losing 4-1. Still a special year and they should be a contender next year with all the talent they could return.

Good "proof of concept" year. Lombardi's seat wasn't hot, but this does well to show the skeptics (me) that she can get the job done.
Not sure what the freshman class for next year looks like, but if it's nearly as good as this year's, it should be another WCWS contender.

The entire assistant coaching staff's contracts are up after this season so Mullens will need to get them re-signed. Lombardi's contract will be up after next season and I doubt he wants to have another Mike White situation now that she has won a conference title and a game in OKC.
Next year's class is only three players (Taryn Ho, Maddie Milhorn, and Amanda Urbina) but Oregon likely won't need major contributions from them next season. Plus, Oregon should be an attractive school for transfers. Biggest area of need will likely be OF since both Luschars and Patmon will be gone. Probably have to find a LHP as well.

Not much can be said, Oklahoma is the gold standard so this was a good test for Oregon and it showed they aren’t quite there yet. Oklahoma was a better team tonight, even if the homeplate ump wasn’t an Oklahoma fan they still would’ve won.
With that said, great season for Oregon! Excited for what the future holds under Lombardi. Grein is as competitive as they get I know this will fuel her to have a great offseason.

I think past softball rankings were basically non-existent for us. They show us with 0 commits in 2025 class.

Man, great game between Texas Tech and Oklahoma. Nijaree Canady is unreal and shuts Oklahoma out for 6 2/3 innings, but then Oklahoma hits a 2-out HR to tie it up. Unfortunately for them, TTU got to bat last and wins on a sac fly, 3-2.
TTU make Canady the highest paid college softball player in history with a $1.05M deal. Life-changing money for her, and program-changing money for Texas Tech.

Helps having a former oil/natural gas guy sell his business for billions and then starts investing that money heavily into his alma mater's athletics. Pretty good ROI.
