Gameday Reserved Hotel Rooms in Eugene for 3 Games in 09

Post by KeenanHowry15 »

Associate athletic director Joe Giansante has reported that ESPN's Gameday has reserved hotel rooms for three different Duck games in Eugene in '09

I think Utah-Oregon or Cal-Oregon have the best chances of being visited by the gameday crew. Especially if we start off with wins over Boise State and Purdue.

Oregon vs Utah could potentially be big. If things go the way we'd like, a possible top 10 matchup? Not to mention, It's one of the more intriguing games that Saturday:
Michigan State at Notre Dame 2:30 p.m. NBC (HD)
Tennessee at Florida 2:30 p.m. CBS (HD)
USC at Washington 2:30 p.m. ABC
Utah at Oregon 2:30 p.m. ESPN (HD)
Virginia at Southern Miss 2:30 p.m. CBSC (HD)
Florida State at BYU 6:00 p.m. Versus (HD)
Texas Tech at Texas 7:00 p.m. ABC (HD)
Ball State at Army TBA ESPN Network

As much as I'd like to share your enthusiasm, I'm betting the whole Kiffin/Meyer conflict will take center stage.
Won't be much of a game. Florida will walk over UT. IF the games was @ Tennessee then I'd agree with you, but once Tennessee losses to W Kentucky and UCLA, that game won't be looking so hot. ;)

GameDay tends to travel to games involving relevant contenders... Somehow, I don't think Tennessee will qualify this season.

Early in the season it tends to be games of east coast interest; Kiffen-Meyer conflict will be hyped' that or the potential TT-TX rematch.
If the Ducks and Utes were playing 7-8 games into the season and both unbeaten then that might be plausible.
CAL. USC games are more likely for their visit; most likely Cal;

I think they even visited a FCS or Div. II game last year.

Of course they're going to be here for the Cal game, it only makes sense. I was out of town on business in 2007 when Cal/Gameday was at Autzen and I will be out of town for a wedding this year when Cal rolls into town.

(On a side note, in 2007 I had to travel to the Bay Area and ended up watching the game in a bar with about 100 Cal fans, my wife and I were the only Ducks in the place... everyone was pretty cool though, and after the heart breaking loss with the Colvin fumble we had people buying us drinks left and right... Cal fans are pretty cool...)

Gotta agree on the Cal fans being pretty cool. At least the ones I met. The fans I talked to after that '07 game were very humble in victory, and very gracious as guests.

I would guess that living in Berkeley sort of mellows a person.

I think the Cal and USC games are the most logical choices. Utah is not expected to be as good next year and will not be ranked in the Top 10. Oregon will be in the Top 10 after they beat a ranked Boise State, Purdue and ranked Utah team and Cal should be undefeated and ranked in the Top 15 so that is the first choice, similar to 2 years ago. USC is a no brainer as long a Oregon is undefeated or a highly ranked one loss team (maybe a loss to Cal) and USC is undefeated, similar to the Oregon/ASU matchup 2 years ago. Even if Oregon only gets one Gameday visit I would be happy.

I can almost guarantee that gameday will be at the Tenn/Florida game. Kiffen has already taken center stage in college football, they're in the SEC, and Gameday is an ESPN (aka the SEC network) show. I would be extremely surprised if they didn't go to that game.

I hope that ESPN Gameday shows up for the USC game as I plan to fly over from France and attend that game with my family.
