"For instance, in September, Oregon faces Boise State, Purdue, Utah and California, which combined to go 38-13 last season. All but Purdue figure to be in the preseason top 25."
No doubt that'll be a tough month. But you got to like our chances if we start off with a win in Boise. We should carry out business at home.

I initially read this as "One Bad Mouth Can ..."
And I thought, "what did Kiffin say this time?"

That's exactly what I thought haha No one knows that one month can change a season better than Duck fans after countless end of the season collapses...but hopefully things are turning around.wheaton4prez wrote:I initially read this as "One Bad Mouth Can ..."

SHOULD carry out business at home. We'll see. Boise worries me quite a bit... A whole bunch of guys who have little starting experience, particularly at key positions like the O-line and at wideout. Of course these worries are not new to us but last season we were truly blessed with an incredibly experienced starting O-line as well as a lot of guys on the two deep that were seniors (guys like Jeff Kendall and Jon Teague). They bailed us out of a lot of close shaves (particularly Arizona, Stanford, and Oklahoma State, all of which were games we truly could have lost). If our O-line does catch on early, especially in the first 4 games, then I'll have a LOT more confidence in our abilities as a team because we have the talent in the skill positions to do a lot of damage. That said I wouldn't be surprised at all if we went 3-1 or 2-2 because of that lack of experience.UOducksTK1 wrote:"For instance, in September, Oregon faces Boise State, Purdue, Utah and California, which combined to go 38-13 last season. Too much negativity on this subject, if you ask me...Has anyone stopped to think that all college teams graduate players or lose em to an early draft..The cycle repeats itself everywhere...We are not "underdogs" here...We have a great core group of young men...and a very inventive coach...
C'mon, why not be a glass half full or 3/4 full mentality here...
We have a veteran qb, veteran rb's, and a whole hell of a lot of talented newcomers...
Plus, a very favorable home schedule this year...I am SOOOOO looking forward to this season and am anticipating gr8 things to come...
Just look at what Utah lost last year.....We are in fantastic shape...
GOOOOOO DUCKS......

3-1 or 2-2 is a possibility..of course. 4-0 is also possible..Time will tell..Its why we play the games...
As long as we win the balance of the games, its of little consequence...How does the saying go? You cant win em all?...Of course, that is unless you play a patsy schedule.....(no inferences here.....lol)...
I would much prefer to play a difficult schedule to start out...prove yourself...and then work towards the goal of winning a Pac 10 Championship or better yet, finally get to the Big Stage...That is how the perfect season goes....Not starting off by killing the Troy States and other insignificants of the world...and resting on your laurels....But then again, thats just me....

I'm not trying to be a negaduck. All I'm trying to do is keep it real and how I see things playing out. 3-1 is likely, while 4-0 is a realistic possibility. Boise State IMO is the biggest hurdle. And as long as Best is playing for Cal, I'm a little worried about facing them. You gotta admit, we haven't played well against Cal for the last few years...ducksrock wrote:Too much negativity on this subject, if you ask me...Has anyone stopped to think that all college teams graduate players or lose em to an early draft..The cycle repeats itself everywhere...We are not "underdogs" here...We have a great core group of young men...and a very inventive coach...

Re: Rivals.com - One Bad Month Can Destroy An Entire Year
A lot of Duck fans are optimistic about the O-Line this season, (including myself) because this has been a position of strength on the team for awhile now, made up mostly of lesser recognized players when they came out of high school.
We all agree the star system in rankings is meaningless from a Duck’s perspective. But in this case the coaches evaluations and the ranking systems seem to align. The Ducks have a lot of young studs at this position. Didn’t Unger start as a soph? Imagine if DT recruiting had gone so well.
My hope, after the Boise State game the national media will be talking about La(e) backfield of Oregon, for I too have unrealistic expectations for James,Blount.
Off subject but does Tedford has Alliottis ‘number after having coached together a few years? (read predictability) Seems like Cals’ offense always calls the right play at crucial times and someone ends up open. The Ducks need to beat Cal this year!

ya Best is scary for cal..Bright side for us is our linebackers are super fast this year. so hopefully we can limit there running game with our speed.UOducksTK1 wrote:I'm not trying to be a negaduck. I am not too worried about Best....... one thing the Ducks defense does well at is stop the run. He will get a fair amount of yards, the key is not giving up so many big passing plays.
