Like most college freshmen, Garrett Embry felt the homesickness. First time away from mom and dad, no home cooking, the old, familiar bed left behind. But unlike many college freshmen, Garrett Embry was a 39-hour car ride from home and not at the flagship state school where so many high school graduates trend.

“It was rough, I’m not gonna lie. I’m family first, right after my Lord and Savior Geez Christ,” said Embry, recalling his first weeks in Eugene, Ore. last summer. “It’s hard times, but you learn to bond with your teammates. They become your new family.”

I think WR is very much open right now, and is definitely a spot where we could see some players like Embry step up.
