Portland Tribune Interview with Allioti

“I don’t want to divulge too much, but ... we’ve gotten to a point where, why can’t we be on the attack on defense and not always let the offense dictate to us?” Aliotti says. “Attack instead of reacting to what’s going on. We’re trying to put as many fast players on the field as we can. The pace (at which) we practice helps quite a bit.”

So this can mean one of two things:
1) This is Allow-a-loti's way of trying to express his gratitude to Kelly in the media thereby starting a PR campaign of "why did you fire me I thought things were going great." at the end of the year.
2) Or we might actually blitz more than 3 times a game. It's a novel concept that when you place pressure on the quarter back more, you force more turnovers and you take some heat off of our corners.
I'm not a drinker so forgive me for not knowing the brand name but the commercial goes "BRILLIANT"

I totally agree. Here's an idea: On third and long, why not put some extra heat on the QB and force him to make a read and a throw quickly, instead of dropping back everyone and their dog and giving the offense all day to pick us apart.
We totally need to be an ATTACKING team, in all phases of the game. Football is a game of aggression and we need to be pro-active, not reactive.

Yes I think if our offense is going to have a lot of scoring and low time of possession, we need to be aggressive to force turnovers and put our offense right back on the field. That way we can keep the momentum going the our offense normally gets. Sounds like CK's practice pace has had some positive effects.

Definitely what our defense has been missing. It's been painful to watch. Allioti certainly has the LBs to do it now.wiseforexinvestor wrote:2) Or we might actually blitz more than 3 times a game. Remember the bowl game with Colorado when we should have been playing Miami. During the 3rd or 4th quarter one of our LBs came in untouched and just flattened the QB. Man I've missed seeing that.
