If LB had broken his leg in the Bosie State game would we be in such disaray? No, we
would just accept the fact and move forward. Geez we only lost one guy, not the whole team. We have to suck it up and make the most of it. We have some talented young kids
that need some reps and good coaching to get in shape to compete. We lost a great
player, but this is no time to give up. Look at OU, they lost their starting QB and I don't think they are going to lay down and die. If we lost Masoli I'd more conserned. Just my
thoughts. We are the Ducks, so lets get out there and fly.

I agree, It sucks to lose Blount but he showed he is not the player to lead this team, he couldn't even get a single positive run. I don't think he would have done much this season anyway so now this gives LMJ, Barner and possibly Crenshaw and Alston an opportunity to prove their worth.

It is not that we lost him for the season. It is HOW we lost him for the season. There is such injustice in the whole thing that it makes me sick to my stomach and serves as a gigantic reminder as to why I am going to law school next fall.

How is it an injustice? If he had just left it at hitting Hout then maybe he only deserved a long suspension, but he hit a teammate multiple times, fought against a coach, crowd control and security, and then went after a bunch of fans. It's too bad Oregon lost him as a player but he just doesn't seem to have the team spirit that Oregon needs (he didn't show at practice today).

It reminds me a lot of the 1998 season when Droughns broke his leg in the UCLA game. We still had a great QB in Akili Smith and we had to find a new consistent RB. We still ended the season pretty well.

Echo you must be the most ignorant person I have ever read. You obviously have not done your homework as to why Hout got punched, why Blount even entertained the crowed and why he was getting his team mates off of him. Hout assaulted him. Have you ever been in a fight and had someone try to restrain you (team mates)? What is the very last thing that you want people to do? Touch you and that is exactly what his team mates did they touch him. Not saying that it is ok for him to have punched Embry but you have to know that when a male gets that adrenaline pumping the very last thing you should do is put your hands on him. The accusations that the crowd threatened Blount is documented, check out the YouTube video. He was assaulted by a BSU fan and nothing is being done to yank his season tickets let alone being arrested to harming an athlete. What would happen if I hit one of Purdue's players on Saturday, you bet your ass I would be spending the night in jail and would be banned from Autzen Stadium.

Do your homework. Hout doesn't get Sh!t for a punishment, both fans walk away with nothing even though there is undeniable video evidence that they committed a crime and Blount is in jeopardy of not going to the NFL for defending himself. YEP, THAT'S RIGHT I SAID BLOUNT DEFENDED HIMSELF BUT BECAUSE THE ESPN HORSE JOCKEYS DECIDED TO ONLY COVER THEIR TAKE ON WHAT HAPPENED RATHER THAN THE WHOLE PICTURE A YOUNG MAN'S CAREER COULD BE RUINED.

You can never see in that video if the guy in the crowd ever actually hit Blount. The angle of the video proves nothing except that the fans were yelling at him. That happens at EVERY SPORTING EVENT. Blount should have just walked away from everything. He didn't, and he got punished. End of story. It is up to BSU to punish things on their end. I agree that Hout should be punished, but that doesn't mean that Blount deserves any less than what he got.

Oh and to answer your question ... no, I have never been in a fight because I know how to walk away.

And the camera angle is more than sufficient to see that the fan made physical contact with Blount across his face. Blount's head turns as a result and if that isn't enough for you satisfaction his hand ends up resting on Blount's right arm. That is unwanted contact....resulting in assault.

it's not clear that he hit him, and even if it was, it doesn't warrant Blount getting less punishment

Getting in fights doesn't prove that you are tough, it only proves that you're not intelligent enough to talk things out like a level headed adult. Speaking with your fists is ridiculous.

It sure does....no one get suspended for an entire season for landing one punch to another football player on the field. His punishment was also for demonstrating aggression toward fans when is reality he was defending himself. His punishment needs to be reduced plain and simple.

The "punch" came after Blount charged the fans ... another example of a Blount not being able to just walk away. That fan could easily claim self defense.

Good thing we didn't just try and talk things out during the revolutionary war. We would still be part of England and all those who brought up opposing views would have been hanged.
