Expectable. If we were a Top 25 team, when we got to the point of being up 28-10 in the 2nd half, we wouldn't have inched to a nailbiter given the previous success. We'll definitely get in if we beat Cal next week, but games like this week and last week against teams like they were do not make a Pac-10 team.
Also have to factor in the meltdown at Boise in just about everybody's mind, of course.

Re: Ducks still not ranked
We are going to be under-ranked for the rest of the season by about 5-6 spots...
Stewart Mandel-"From a purely aesthetic standpoint, I much prefer to watch a good spread-rushing offense over a traditional Power-I offense, and Oregon's has been the most fun by far for the past several years. It's fast, its precise, and when Chip Kelly has the right quarterback (Dixon, Masoli) at the helm, the possibility of someone ripping off a 60-yard run exists on nearly every play."

Re: Ducks still not ranked
Rankings do not matter at all for this season. The only reason they ever do is for an at-large berth in a BCS game, and we'd have to win out to be seriously considered for an at-large berth. (A two-loss west coast team not named USC just doesn't go to BCS games 99.99999% of the time.) But if we were to win out, we'd be in the Rose Bowl as the Pac-10 champion anyway. So don't fret about the rankings. Plus, if we beat Cal next week, we'll get plenty of poll love if you still worry about that.

Ya but it sucks when teams like Oklahoma loose their first game to BYU (similar to BSU in status) and doesn't fall very hard and is already back in the top ten! I know they won big yesterday, but against tulsa, we are still playing ranked teams! Just kind of upsets me! I know rankings don't really matter right now, but i just hate that the Pac-9 (-USC) gets no love!

Re: Ducks still not ranked
Don't see why we shouldn't be ranked..
2-1 record. Lost to a top 10 team on the road by 11 points. Beat a top 20 team with a 16 game winning streak.
Considering we were ranked in the top 20 to start the season, I don't understand why we aren't ranked now.
But if we beat Cal, this will all be changed.

Can't believe UW is ranked #24 on the strength of victories over Idaho and a depleted USC team. I read where USC was minus 5-6 starters. UW loses next two against Stanford and Notre Dame on the road.

Re: Ducks still not ranked
How can you guys complain about UW being ranked when you think we should be too? Let's compare:
UDub: one big win (over a top 5 team), one understandable loss (to a top ten team), one win that should've been a win (Idaho)
Oregon: One good but not great win (over a top twenty team. And if you want to talk about depleted, look at Utah), one understandable loss (to a top 15 team at the time, top ten now), and one win that should've been a win (Purdue, but only by two).
Their marquee win was bigger than ours, their loss wasn't nearly as ugly as ours, and the games we each should've won we did. Purdue is better than Idaho, but we had a hard time with them, unlike UDub with Idaho.

I don't think we should be ranked but one win against a team without 5 starters is not worthy of a ranking either. I don't really count Idaho as a win for a Pac10 team.

Re: Ducks still not ranked
Many people have felt that Utah is overrated and a loss to Oregon confirmed it. Oregon eeked out a win against Purdue, which lost to who this week? Finally, Oregon wasn't able to do anything against BSU, and I mean nothing on the offensive side. Oregon will have to prove it against Cal if they want to get back into the top 25

Re: Ducks still not ranked
Homerism, where is your rationality here. Washington beat USC, we haven't yet done that this season. Even without some starters, they have the talent we wish we had. Washington has played pretty well and so far we really haven't. Our O keeps showing us glimpses but we are no where near the point of being able to beat Cal and USC right now. Maybe things will change in the next week, but I am not going to count on it. Of course maybe Kelly gets a little more creative and decides to use Costa too in the game so we can throw the damn ball, that would be a good start. We won't beat either Cal or USC unless we can throw the ball. They will shut down the running game if the passing threat isn't there. And then again don't worry about if we kep losing then we are where we belong, on the other hand the players have this as motivation to prove they are better than that which may be a good thing, with the way the our O is playing right now I would hate to be highly ranked we would just be set up for a big fall...my two cents...

Re: Ducks still not ranked
The Ducks are not ranked because they barely beat an over rated Utah team at home and barely beat a Purdue team that lost to Northern Illinios at home and stunk it up against Boise State. If the Ducks beat Cal they will move into the top 20 probably somewhere around 16-18, similar to what Florida State did after beating BYU. The Ducks simply have not played like a team that should be ranked.
