I'm not sure how losing to the Ducks two years in a row and ending up in the Las Vegas Bowl equates to dominating the West Coast. Even worse, claiming to have signed the #1 recruiting class in the Pac-12 appears to be nothing more than an outright lie.

Jimmy Lake's clown act
Did anyone catch this ridiculous speech Jimmy Lake gave to the crowd during the basketball game? He talks about how Washington will "continue to dominate the West Coast" and how the football team signed the #1 recruiting class in the Pac-12.

Well he said in December so guessing he meant as of the early signing period. I think that is actually accurate. Didn't signing Flowe put us ahead of them? The rest is just coach speak, trying to get the crowd fired up blah blah blah

Re: Jimmy Lake's clown act
The Ducks had the #1 recruiting class in the Pac-12 during the early signing period. Flowe signed on signing day....so did Dontae Manning. The only reason Manning wasn't initially factored into the rankings is he wanted to wait to make it public. Everyone, including Jimmy Lake, is now fully aware that Manning signed with the Ducks during the early signing period and that is reflected in the team recruiting rankings on the various recruiting websites. He is doing nothing more than perpetuating a lie at this point. UW might want to check Jimmy's resume.....he appears to be the type of con man that purposefully sprinkles in some falsehoods in order to make himself look a little better.EncinitasDuck wrote:Well he said in December so guessing he meant as of the early signing period. I don't know how big a deal this is...you can almost give the coach a pass for stretching the truth a little in that situation, new coach, home court in front of his fans, his team up by 12 vs. the hated and favored Ducks. They had a good recruiting class, and whether it is better than Oregon's may be a matter of opinion. They had more 4 and 5-star players than the Ducks, for instance. What is more interesting to me is whether saying all this stuff right in front of the Oregon basketball team at all contributed to their energy during the comeback win and Pritchard's crowd-taunting after his shot.

The fact their fans ran Chris Peterson out of town only to be replaced by someone like Jimmy Lake is hillarious in every way possible given that Peterson was by far the best coach they have had in over 25 years . Enjoy going returning back to the Steve Sarkisian days, and the PAC-12 will be happier to have that happen anyway given your guys record of losing every NY6 game you were in and embarrassing the conference in the process .

What's funny, is they called Peterson a top 5 coach, but now think Lake will be better.

Lmao , now they are calling for Lake to be fired lol while after the Oregon game their fans were calling for Peterson to be fired . Well now their best coach since Don James is gone .
Too any Husky Fans lurking on here : it’s not Oregon fault that you guys have had only really 3 or 4 good seasons since Don James Left , it’s your guys fault . It’s also not Oregon fault for 2000, yes you lost to us but the real culprit for you guys losing a chance to play for the title was the BS BCS system which also robbed Oregon in 2001 and 2012 and even USC in 2003 ( though the AP poll that year made up for that)

Re: Jimmy Lake's clown act
There were a bunch of big time in-state recruits at the game, he was trying to convince them to stay home. Clearly he’s being dishonest about the recruiting rankings and about dominating the west coast(they had a losing conference record), but what else does he have? He’s a first year head coach with no experience, and he completely blew it on his first set of coaching hires.

Mario Tweeting after the game#WestCoastDominance was pretty great.
Genuinely hope Lake is exposed as a fraud. He's going to help their recruiting in the short term, but we'll see how he is at running a program.

WSU picked up Hawaii’s HC and Wyoming’s DC. They’re putting together a better coaching staff than UW.

Agreed. What kind of motivator would he be if he came in and said "We will continue to be second place in the North and lose head to head recruiting battles during my tenure."
Come on. To take this personally is a bit odd.

I abhor the fuskies, but liked peterson alot better than Lake. This clown seems to really have a big mouth. Too bad Leach left, I was really looking forward to him beating down Lake and making Lake eat his own words.

I dunno, what do you expect? He's appealing to his base....There was nothing offensive there to me...
Stewart Mandel-"From a purely aesthetic standpoint, I much prefer to watch a good spread-rushing offense over a traditional Power-I offense, and Oregon's has been the most fun by far for the past several years. It's fast, its precise, and when Chip Kelly has the right quarterback (Dixon, Masoli) at the helm, the possibility of someone ripping off a 60-yard run exists on nearly every play."
