Well put but didn't I say this two posts up? But I think you said it better! My writings horrible!

Location doesnt stop the UofO. The lack of volume of FBS quality high school football players in the state of Oregon is what hampers the Ducks.

I think you are selling the program short. There are people who would've said that going from a nothing to a top 20 team is impossible. Guess what? It happened. You are contradicting yourself when you bring up a point like that when arguing against the point I was trying to make. It's really only the next step. It's been done elsewhere and it can be done here. Location is such a cop out.

That actually has a lot to with location if you really think about it.

It has to do with population not location.

 Ummmm, Eugene is LOCATED in a state with a relatively small population. I don't see where your confusion is.

I still think it has more to do with TV coverage or the lack there of. If kids know they will get the exposure to a large base then the best talent will be more inclined to come join a great program. TV translates into team and highlight exposure resulting in better team ranking and name recognition. Look at Notre Dame - a lame program on TV all the time. They get ranked too high, get into better Bowls (usually) and pick up & waste great commits. Next year we need to blow out our compitition on ABC/ESPN to show the entire country who the Ducks are.

Notre Dame is a huge Catholic based school...Its comparing apples to oranges...Their fan base is gigantic due to their religious ties......And that translates into having enough lobbying power that they are THE ONLY college football team "named" within the BCS guidelines...
The Domers have sucked, as a fb team for many years....
Knute Rockne is dead..Get over it....
Maybe if ND would play in an actual league, i would have a little respect for em...Nah, they would still suck....

My point exactly. even with the Huge Catholic base, take away the constant (weekly) exposure and they would not recruit as well as they do. Many of the best players have Egos to feed and the larger the crowd watching, the more it is fed. BYU is a large Morman base but not as large a draw as they would be if they had ND's TV connections.
