The play of the reserves against USC was a pleasant surprise. When Pickford, a walkon who did not play well as the starter at the beginning of the 2024 season, came in, I was deeply concerned. It did not occur to me that he could be a different player 14 months later, growing skills and muscle like fellow walkon Boetcher.

That goes for the others; former blue-chip kids who made us groan when they came in during the fourth quarter all season because we wanted to run up the score. Reps they received in those games and against the first string in practices and in the weight room turned them into football players who will match up well if needed against UW starters.

The offensive line with all those reserves did great, better than we have a right to expect especially in pass protection, but in the run game we averaged 4.4 yards per carry versus a team that is not normally all that good against the run. World and Harkey are likely to be playable and that will be great.

Last week and this week I have watched a ton of USC and UW on the B1G+ app. Probably 80% of the second half of their seasons. Frankly I think UW would beat USC on a neutral field and kick their asses in Seattle with the current injury statis. The UW defense is much better than USCs and hasn't had a bad game all year. More than USCs advantage on offense. The only bad game the UW offense has had at home is against the number #1 defense in the country.

I'm expecting a one score game in Oregon's favor provided we get some players back.

Fisch said today Boston will play.

Supposedly not playing is their best linebacker who wants to preserve his redshirt

Another epic Lanning-Crepea moment from tonight’s press conference. You all will have to watch to see it. I love how Dan makes their occasional sparring fun, without ever making it serious, mean or awkward like Mario did.

Oregon did the right thing and went with the yellow/white/green combo everyone has been wanting.

Let’s get a big enough lead where Akili’s kid can come in for a series so he can wear the same uniform combo his dad wore to beat the dawgs a few decades ago. How great would that be for both of them.

For as little as the PSU whiteout win may mean in the national media/playoff debate/etc., it was great prep for the pressure of this road game.

Also, Fresch has done nothing at UW.

In 2 years, Fresch has lost:

2024:
vs WSU
@ Rutgers
@ Iowa
@ Indiana
@ PSU
@ Oregon
Louisville (Bowl)

2025:
vs tOSU
@ Michigan
@ Wisconsin

So maybe your anxious brain (like mine) claims that only 2 of those losses are at home and one was to the #1 team. Let’s look at who they’ve beaten at home:

2024:
Weber State
Eastern Michigan
NW
Mich
USC
UCLA

2025:
Colorado State
UC Davis
Rutgers
Illinois
Purdue

In 2024, Michigan was 5-4 and USC was 4-5 in the B10.

Illinois is the best win Fresch has. He’s gotten clobbered by every ranked team he’s faced.

2024:

UW 17, (8)IU 34
UW 6, (4)PSU 35
UW 21, (1)UO 49

2025:

(1)OSU 24, UW 6
UW 7, (15)Michigan 24

They’ve been tripled up 3x, and doubled up in the rest.

What am I missing?
