I read that Depaul is interested in Dixon, and he has connections there. As soon as Pitt is knocked out of the tourney, hopefully MB makes the call.

Only connection there is his late sister was an assistant there, but they have money to offer so he may be persuaded.duckgrad99 wrote:I read that Depaul is interested in Dixon, and he has connections there. As soon as Pitt is knocked out of the tourney, hopefully MB makes the call.

seems to me that Depaul would be a step down from Pitt, I feel that Oregon is a horizontal move in the terms of prestige and conferences respect and the like. Depaul does not really have any of that except money

Re: Kent's Replacement
Actually Oregon would also be a step down from Pitt due what him and Howland have created there and the strength of the Big East.justducky0 wrote:seems to me that Depaul would be a step down from Pitt, I feel that Oregon is a horizontal move in the terms of prestige and conferences respect and the like. Very true, I guess what I ment was Oregon is still in a "Power" conference and with a little winning will got tons of publicity.

I think Few moves up the list if Kilkenny becomes interim AD while the coaching search is still ongoing.duckgrad99 wrote:http://thebiglead.com/index.php/2010/03 ... l-targets/

Re: Kent's Replacement
Pitt was nothing special before Howland landed there, so yes it's currently a better program, but it's no traditional power. At UO he gets to be back on the west coast (reported that's his preference), and he would make 500-800k a year more than his current gig.

Interesting stat I just saw watching the game regarding possible Oregon coaches: Texas A & M and Pitt are the only teams with a first round victory in the tournament in each of the last 5 seasons. Turgeon and Dixon.

Re: Kent's Replacement
I think he is using the increased attention to leverage himself a pay raise. He has only 1 senior on his entire team so they are going to be really good next year. I have a hard time believing he wants a reconstruction project.buckmarkduck wrote:Pitt was nothing special before Howland landed there, so yes it's currently a better program, but it's no traditional power. Was texted tonight by a gentleman I trust who has pretty close ties. I told him he was full of it and he said "You'll hear soon enough"dthomas=ddixon wrote:Yeah oook. Wow. Way out of left field but man, way better than any of us could have imagined if true. Wonder what the tie or reason is? Doesn't he make a huge amount of money up there?dereknad wrote:Was texted tonight by a gentleman I trust who has pretty close ties. Re: Kent's Replacement
Although this usually isn't the case, we can pretty much scratch off any thoughts of a coach already being determined.. thanks to MB stepping down. The search is just beginning.
